hard to say age. It does not look gendai. The file marks are strange, almost looks like they were removed under the mei, i can see them in areas of the nakago. I would say exercise caution. If you are buying wait to see the blade, if helping someone they should be careful wish you the best for a speedy recovery

Please help translate this one ... got me stumped
Mark replied to grapppa's topic in Translation Assistance
maybe Yoshimitsu (義光), Shōwa (昭和, 1926-1989), Gifu – „Yoshimitsu“ (義光), civilian name „Yabushita Fujio“ (藪下不二夫) but just my guess. -
Blade is nothing special. The inscription just had me stumped. As I was asked here is a picture. It will be at the MAX show if anyone wants to see it in person

Josh My thoughts are: If you plan on selling it (i think that is what you want to do) no not have any restoration done, Oil it and care for it as Grey suggested. If you have the handle re-wrapped it will cost you money/time and a buyer may not like the results. Research it (you are doing that now) get all the info you can. Then sell it once you know what you have. You are in Seattle, did anyone suggest you show it to Brian T? He is a known person and is knowledgeable and is local to you. I think the more people who see it offers the opportunity to learn and you get multiple opinions/offers. If you have the journal and picture this may bring the best price to a militaria collector but you will figure that out as you go. Smart to move slowly. Just my opinion Mark

i am stumped and. i think i see Ari ??? Saku kore but am lost with everything on the other side. A lot of writing on a small nakago Thanks for any help!!!

i have had swords delivered by DHL (international) and i always get a tax bill. I pay it. Not so happy but that is the way it is. Doesn't matter how the sender describes the contents.... If i get a sword delivered through USPS i get no tax bill.
-
that is hard to judge........... it is in shirasaya and gimei so that limits value. I would estimate you could SELL it to a knowledgeable collection fo $500-800, if you are thinking replacement cost you will never find an identical one but should be able to buy something similar for $700-1000 just my opinion, keep in mind i attend a lot of shows so see a lot of swords offered, if you have to rely on online sales you may have to pay higher mark

Sam the show rate is 199 so 2 nights even with tax should be in your price range here is a link https://book.passkey...492/owner/12506/home I run the Chicago show and the one thing that helps support the show (and keep it going) is to stay at the hotel and reserve in the show room block hope that helps mark
