  1. Okay, I had my concerns too. Next time I will trust my gut. Thank you!
  2. Hey all, the seller says this is an authentic tanto. Im not certain. The patina of the tang has me worried. Any help would be appreciated. If real, the condition obviously isn’t great. What do you think the value is?
  3. Thank you! Any guess on if it is gendaito or showato?
  4. Can anyone help with the translation? Thanks in advance! Also, do you think it is traditionally made or mass produced blade?
  5. Hello, I have the chance to purchase this sword, but I would like your thoughts first. The seller says it is some type of “ceremonial sword” from the late 1800’s which was brought back to the USA in 1902 by a family member in New York. Also, is that the Tokugawa family mon on the saya? Would love some feedback! Thanks!
  6. Hello all, I am new to collecting and I have the opportunity to purchase this Wakizashi. I just wanted to get your thoughts on this Wakizashi. It appears to be Mumei. Any guess on the age or rough estimate of value? The blade appears to be well taken care of and in good condition
  7. Hello all, I am having some trouble understanding something I’ve been reading about. What are Handachi mounts? Are they common? When were Handachi mounts popular? Did they use Handachi mounts on WW2 gunto? Thanks for your help!
  8. @Bugyotsuji am I correct about its age? Koto? am I correct about it once being a katana and then shortened to a wakizashi? I am new and just trying to make sure I am correct. and yes, it is broken. I don't believe it can be restored
  9. Hello all, I am new to Nihonto and I am not an expert but I have been offered what I believe to be a suriage katana blade that is now a wakizashi. I am guessing that the age is Koto. What do you think? Also there appears to be a kanji on the nakago if anyone can make it out. I would love to get your thoughts and feedback! Thanks in advance! I should also add, I know it is probably not restorable. but maybe a nice conversation piece to display and something to look at! Thanks again
  10. @Ray Singerwhat about the katana? did any of them look koto or catch your eye? Besides those katanas, the seller also has these katanas for me to pick from. Do these or any of the the previous katana catch your eye, besides the wakizashi?
  11. @Ray Singer Just looking for a project blade to restore. Preferrably koto. Not concerned with the "investment" per se. Just wondering if any of these "stuck out" as having the potential to be a special piece! Do you see any that could be a Koto blade?
  12. Hello I am looking for a wakizashi and Katana to restore. I have the opportunity to buy all or just one of them. I can't decide which wakizashi or Katana would be worthy of restoration. I prefer koto blades. Can anyone tell me if there is anything here that is special/catches their eye or if there is a koto blade or anything worth restoring if you had to pick one or two of them? Thanks! Which ones stick out to you?!
