  1. Thanks for the comments - koshirae wrap does cover 80% of the mekugi hole on one side and it is loose on the makidome end, allowing about 1/2" of movement. Tsuba and surrounding hardware fit tight, but the blade itself does not fit snug into the says and the koiguchi will fall off (loose). While new to Japanese swords, I feel I could do better for the price point. Hope to get it to Shinsa for analysis @DTM72 . Maybe it will end up back at auction
  2. I've added more photos to the link above attempting to get a good focus and according to your request. I think they will be sorted when you view, but I have named them to just in case
  3. @cluckdaddy76 here's the photos Swords. The blade is better condition than the auction photos. I plan to use some Renaissance Prelim and see if I can restore some of the luster on the stand, you can see the original sparkly enamel where the vertical piece inserts
  4. Thank you very much Thomas! This is great, I will reach out to to Dan.
  5. Thanks all. Trying to swing Shinsa this year, but logistics are proving tricky
  6. Will do! Yes I went well beyond my original intent..but can't cry over spilt milk Hopefully blade has value!
  7. Yes that was my post Darn! Is there anyone who can do a spot polish so I could take it to Orlando SHINSA? I understand full polish is a long wait and the blade is rough
  8. I relied on others for translation and Google searching both English and Japanese characters, so perhaps it is wrong. When researching I only found reference to either first part or second part, never the full signature. Example: Ōmi Daijō Fujiwara or Dewa Daijo Fujiwara Kunimichi Hopefully not a gimei, if so I paid a lot for koshirae
  9. This sword currently wears military Itomaki no tachi koshirae 近江大掾藤原國路 = Ōmi Daijō Fujiwara Kunimichi (or Kuniji) or is this an address?? When I compare it to other signed Kunimichi the letters appear different and handwriting appears different, so perhaps my translation above is wrong. I'm new to Japanese swords and this is my third and by far most expensive purchase. I just received my books so I can start to analyze.
  10. Best I have determined signature is Ōmi Daijō Fujiwara Kunimichi. I am assuming this is before Kunimichi was give the title Dawa Daijo, but that is a guess. I have ordered books to better research. I am awaiting delivery. Got a little bid happy, and will need to budget for a polish. Wish I could get a little polish and bring it to SHINSA Orlando. https://www.invaluab...n-lot/lot_DC34F7DBDB
