  1. Hello all, I have the chance to purchase this sword at a decent price. The owner says he bought it from his friend whose father brought it back from the war. The owner isn’t comfortable taking the handle off. Just wanting some experienced eyes to take a look at it. The Saya appears to have a lot of the original paint but seems to be missing the sarute, the semegane, and maybe the ishizuke. The Ito wrap looks traditionally wrapped. Blade looks to be in good polish. Im not sure from the pics if it is traditionally made or not. Seems to have a suguha hamon but not sure from the pics if it is oil or water quenched. Any other things that catch your eye, please let me know!
  2. Any help with translation would be appreciated!
  3. @Tohagi the seller said the nagasa is approximately 23 inches but it was difficult to be exact since it was in the glass case. On first impression, the sugata caught my eye and the kissaki seemed correct. But I knew the Ito wrap was off. That’s why I wanted get the opinion of people with more trained eyes. I was wondering if it was an authentic nihonto that was given (cheap) koshirae and put in a display piece for tourists or something? I’m not sure
  4. Hello all! This I’m interested in this sword that is for sale, but it is in a display box so I am unable to see the nakago. My question is, does it seem authentic to you? I get nervous when I can’t see the nakago to know for sure.
  5. Okay! Thank you all! Any estimate on a possible value?
  6. Hello all, I'm still fairly new to collecting and I was wondering if I could get your opinions on this sword, specifically if it is real or fake. I guessed it was real but there is no mekugi to pull to view the nakago. what do you all think? Thanks in advance....

  9. Hello all, a local seller has this sword for sale. He says it is from ww2. He has another sword as well and it is definitely from ww2. But this one seems....off. my biggest concern is the Mei. It is not chiseled into the tang like other signatures and seems to be on above or on top of the tang, which makes me concerned about its authenticity. Any thoughts and opinions would be appreciated!
  10. Hey everyone, I have some katana that I would like to have put in shirasaya and one that needs a new tsuka/ito wrap. What is an estimated cost of something like this?
  11. Hoping someone could help wit this Mei. I believe the sword to be koto...
  12. Hello All, I was wondering if anyone could help me with this sword I have a chance to purchase. I do believe it is a genuine type 95 NCO sword, but I am no expert and its probably best to let more trained eyes look at it. It has a lot of the original paint and seems to be in good condition. My question is, how much does not having matching serial numbers affect the value?
  13. Hello all, I just wanted your thoughts on this Type 95 I have the chance to purchase. Based on mu research I do believe it is genuine but its always best to have more trained eyes look at it as well. I still has a lot of the original paint on it, but it has mismatched serial numbers. How much does this affect the value? Thanks for all the help!
