  1. One final question about the blade, it looks quite strange where you should put the habaki. Almost as if someone had cut the blade down and moved the habaki forward. I’m not saying that the two experts are wrong but why make the tang larger? I took some pictures, hope you can see what I mean. Someone has tried to polish the sword so it is all full of scratches.
  2. Thanks for your answers, as I suspected. It will disappear in my box for mistakes.
  3. Hello! I need help with this blade wich I unfortunately recently bought. This was an impulse buy and I know nothing about the blade. it is signed on one side of the tang. The Hamon line looks too straight and I have an overall bad feeling about this blade. The total length is 89 cm, the blade itself is 71 cm.It is quite heavy, 894 grams. Can engine tell me more about it? Best regards Henrik

    Odoshi ge

Hello! I need some advice regarding the width of the Odoshi on my armor. I have ordered some samples from Atelier Miyabi. They were out of stock with the 7 mm wide Odoshi and as you can see on the pictures the 8 mm looks to big for the do, but might work on the kabuto. The 6 mm is a bit thinner than the original on the armor that is why I think 7 mm will be good for the do. There at 17 holes 12,2 cm from utter edges. What do you think?
  6. Hello! Does anyone know of a good video showing relacing of an antique armor? All films I can find are people using nylon lacing on their self made armors. But my main question is if anyone knows if the leather thongs that holds the plates together (tomegawa) is pulled tight after the lacing is done? Otherwise I can’t understand how to reach the section of holes below the next plate. best regards Henrik
  7. Hi! First of all I would like to say that I know that there are professional armor restorers, but I will try this by myself. 1. All the lacing in the dou, kabuto and mempo is ruined and needs to be replaced. The lacing on sode and kusazuri is a bit better and might be salvageable. Would you replace all the lacing to get a more homogeneous look? 2. The width of the lacing is about 7,5 mm when it hangs lose on the kabuto on the dou a bit smaller but about the same, if pulled closer to 6 mm. What width of lacing would you use? 3. All the silk on the sangu is very fragile and almost gone on one of the kote. Is it ok to change the fabric to a silk fabric that holds together? 4. Someone have used European clear lacquer on some of the parts so that will have to be removed, any good advice on what to use? i know that this isn’t a project for the faint hearted but I want to give it a go and if I don’t the armor might be lost or beyond saving.
  8. Thanks for your help! since I’m a beginner I’m not sure what this means, but if I understand you this is a unknown smith and not a famous one. So regarding the value it really doesn’t matter. But I like that we/you might have contributed with his artistic name wich was previously unknown. best regards
  9. It is the same, I couldn’t edit it

Someone told me that it was better with some kind of text on the photos so that it would be harder to use the photos for a fake sale.

  15. Thanks Uwe! I have posted this question in the translation forum as well I didn’t know how to remove this post, but maybe it is okay with it being posted on two places. I’m not sure I would like to have a smith’s signature on my face mask. That is why I thought it might be a religious quote, so that everyone could see it. best regards Henrik
  16. When I bought the armor I had not seen the writing on the menpo. The seller didn’t photo it in detail. I have no idea what I have bought, I liked the dou and as I said I wanted a restoration project, and yes I know that there are professional arms restorers. it is scheduled to arrive on Monday so I will get back with some more detailed pictures then. best regards Henrik
  17. Hello! Can anyone tell me if this is two signatures or religious quotes, and if possible translate them. I have bought an armor and on the dou there are some religious motives, Fudo and some other figures. So I think that the writhing on the menpo might be a signature or some religious statement. the armor is on transit so I don’t have any better pictures. i hope someone can help me. best regards henrik
  18. Hello! i have just bought an armor that I want to have as a Project since it is very vorn. But in the mempo at two “signatures” or religious quotes. Can anyone translate them for me? best regards henrik
