  1. Excellent, I've talked to you at the ladson show and in Myrtle beach I think. My brother and I will be by the show Saturday morning.
  2. Hello, I did some reading (dangerous) and found out that this saber with a dragonfly was an army court sword. Similar ones look like the diplomat sword or ambassador sword. This one might be a little older than the 1940s. Its certainly seen better days, but still cool to me. Thought I’d share. Best, Matthew
  3. Thank you, Conway. Solid advice and I will look for that book
  4. Thank you, I wont take anything apart.
  5. Here are a few more pictures. I really appreciate y'all taking a look and respect highly, your input.
  6. Hello, I came across this Type 95 yesterday here in South Carolina. The saya is a black color and does not match the serial number on the blade. The serial numbers are inverted and I believe there is supposed to be another mark on the blade from an inspector. The clip latch is broken off and the fuchi collar has two markings. I shared my story last week with that replica I bought, just making sure to find out if this one is real. These few things I’ve mentioned, have raised a few flags based on what I have learned from you all here. Any opinions on this piece would be greatly appreciated before I make an offer on it. Respectfully, Matthew SC
  7. There is a military antique show next month in MT Pleasant, outside of Charleston, SC on Jan 6 and 7. Check out the link. I missed it last year, but will be going this time. Matthew South Carolina
  8. Yes, I'm excited, I'll put up some pics. Thinking about putting it up next to my dragonfly ambassador sword
  9. Yes, I bought it. Should be here next week.
  10. Thank you Bruce. I sent the guy an offer, we will see what happens.
  11. Hello, I was looking at this one. It looks much better than the one I posted earlier, which I am still figuring out what to do with my $700 replica. Anyways, if you have one you my want to sell to a new collector, please send me a message. I've enjoyed learning about them with this forum. Cheers, Matthew
  12. Well, I really appreciate all the feedback and information. I've learned a lot from this forum. Do you all know of a reputable dealer or site where I can purchase an authentic one of these NCO swords? These are the ones I am most interested in. Thank you again and all the best, Matthew
  13. Thank you all so much for all the replies. The serial number is 100725, the second zero is smudged. I took some additional pictures if order to help. The blade is steel and almost has a cosmoline smell to it when I take it out. The inside of the scabbard is aged and the wooden piece has seen better days. If it turns out to be a replica, perhaps its an older one? Thank you all for the information.
  14. Hello, Thank you for the reply. Well, that not good news. I won this on GunBroker last month and paid a lot for it. Hopefully, I can figure something out with the seller. Thank you, Matthew
  15. Here are some more picture. Serial number is 10725, but no inspector mark
  16. Good Morning, My name is Matthew and I am a new collector. Thank you so much for allowing me to learn more about Japanese swords with this forum. I have been interested in anything about Japan for a long time. I bought this NCO sword a few weeks ago and have some questions that maybe some of you can answer. The serial numbers on NCO swords are stamped on the side of the blade, either readable left to right or upside down, depending where it was made, correct? On my NCO sword, the serial number is on the back of the blade and not on either side. The serial number matched the one on the scabbard. Does anyone know why it may be on the back of the blade rather than on the side? Any information about this piece would be greatly appreciated. I’ve spent some time trying to find the answer to this question, and thought this would be the best place to find out. Respectfully, Matthew South Carolina.
