  1. I thought it used to be sharper and got dull over time. Thank you everyone for advice!
  2. Hello everyone. So I have this Type 95 sword, of which the blade is in a surprisingly good condition. It just has a few scratches and stains. However, the cutting edge is not too sharp, and the blade geometry at the tip (kissaki) is not as visible. I was wondering if there is an affordable way to sharpen it. I assume it does not need the same treatment as traditional swords as it is just a mass-produced sword. Thank you in advance.
  3. Bruce, Sorry, I was talking about the Aoi Japan sword. That was my impression from the webpage. The sword does not seem to have black spots exclusive on oil-quenched blades. Also, from the pictures, I can see the grain structures. So could this be a so-called Gendaito?
  4. Hello again everyone. Does this look water-quenched or oil-quenched? Please advise. Respectfully, Jun
  5. Hello. I was asked to post the pictures of my Mantetsu sword. As you can see, it does not have the brand name "koa-isshin"; just the maker "Mantetsu". Made in 1943 spring; serial number KE 227; no stamp from the arsenal.
  6. Hello. I have a gunto from 1943 made by South Manchurian Railway Co. The sword is not in a bad shape, but its hamon is almost gone, and there is a small chip on the blade. The cutting edge is not as sharp. Fortunately, I heard this person "Takeo Seki" is a fully qualified polisher in the west coast of Canada; however, I could not find his contact info at all. Could anyone provide me with the person's contact information? Thank you in advance.
