  1. Hi Hamish, Barry is spot on with his comments. The most revealing book for me has been Owari to no tanko and Markus Sesko's fab translation It is necessary to have the the two books. Next I would look at the Haynes catalogues from the early 80's even though the pictures are mainly black and white and his opinions are criticised by some but most love him and won't mater to you one way or another, look don't buy yet. All these books can be got from Grey. Alan.

  13. I have one with holes like that the Tsuba was a base for a candle stick and the three feet where on the bottom of the Tsuba Alan
  14. I agree with BaZZa ,the second set of pics show two colours one a blue hue and a brown iron flaky colour I would ask for Fords opinion. Alan

  20. Hi Garry, if you contact John Grasso .I don' think Pine is a good Idea when you carve the inside and outside it gets pretty thin and breaks so easily. Contact Nihonto Australia I' m pretty sure he has handles Alan not sure what happened here!!!

Hi Michael, the best book by a long shot on Owari tsuba I have found is Owari to Mikawa no Tanko , The tsuba Craftsmen from Owari and Mikawa Province and Markus Sesko translation into English if you need it after living there. There is a group of us from Oz heading to Tokyo in November for the DTI we cold meet you there even if you don't drink. Regards Alan
