    Tsuba help

Yes, these marks are done to fit nakago ana of the tsuba to the nakago of a sword. If it is tight on your sword, so probably done to fit this sword. Must not be a tsuba reused.

    Tsuba help

Hello, The chiseling around the nakago ana is to fit the nakago ana to the blade. This "push" the iron Inside the nakago ana and tighten more the blade. So a technical reason Under these mark and not an artistic one. Sorry hard to read the mei.

Thanks to all for your interest for this tsuba and for your opinions. To sum up, the mei seems to be good, but the workmanship is questionnable In you opinion do you think the birds need to be restored before a shinsa or can the tsuba be presented in this state ?

Hello, Many thanks for your replies and opinions. Indeed, the birds are not in good state, with oxydations etc... and need care.
