  1. Hello Tony, No pictures or link has appeared. Cheers Moss
  2. Simon, that" reprobate "Ian Moss comes from a good long lineage of convict stock like myself.. 1886 The Sarah. Doubt I am related to him and probably I should not call him a reprobate ,I am just looking inwards to my past. I know who you are and your status as a muso. I'm off topic but when you started out in the music game you were not worried about being old and financially responsible, why change now? You followed your gut and passion. To answer your question on what I was saying ,do like the muso's do encourage the young ones coming up leave the rest to fate. As you say 2 fortunes have passed through your hands and you need to make sure. Mate there is nothing sure ,do what you need to do but encourage others to follow. Cheers Moss
  3. Gidday Simon and all, You seem to have the translation in very capable hands, the cumulative knowledge on this board is massive. You are obviously passionate after reading other posts regarding your personal views on gunto mounts ,I question why you seem to be a little concerned if the investment value of swords will continue upward. We all started in this interest in one way or another and in the beginning for most, it would have been the opposite to making financial gain. This not withstanding I can understand you like all, are constrained by the thought, should I ,shouldn't I but if you are serious about protecting your "investment" should you not encourage new and younger followers to the ranks...for they will be some of the people who are potential buyers as they move on. Gunto collectors do go on to higher and better. Swords are like everything in the world, they come in and out of favour and flavour but I defy you to enjoy a share certificate or bank bond to the same degree. I sincerely hope you fulfill your financial dreams. I trust I am not out of line or antagonistic ,I expect to be castigated by moderators if I am,my views are only aimed to provoke thought. P.S I'll still buy you a XXXX when you're in Brizzy. Cheers Moss
  4. Simon , thats certainly a strong hada. I like it . cheers Moss
  5. Hello all, Here is a "Gendaito" with a seki stamp.   http://cgi.ebay.com/Nice-WW2-GENDAITO-S ... 0549600707 Cheers Moss
  6. Hello all, In sunny Queensland you can apply to import double sided blades. It is a bit of a process and can be a frustrating wait. I have never bothered personally but a friend of mine brings in "daggers" on a regular basis, there is no accounting for bad taste but he loves those german pig stickers. If any one is interested here in Oz I will get the low down for you. I know the whole process takes a few months. Cheers Moss
  7. Nice one Ron! I'd hate to get hit by it Cheers Moss
  8. Hello all, maybe the Aussie members of the board could look at the South African setup and model something similar to fit in with our laws here. If it works for them it should work here? Cheers Moss
  9. David , I guess that politics do bugger up things, there may be more at stake for some members so the radical elements may be able to be controlled. NHMB seems to have the politics under control. I will be at the Shinza so I guess lets see how much interest is shown here in the interim? Cheers Moss
  10. David, Count me in How many members would be required to make it sustainable and legitimately recognised? I will help where I can. Cheers Moss
  11. Dear Mr Kircher, You are very funny but sorry we like to keep our toads for lick'n,while we bash out a tune or two on the banjo. Customs also obviously likes em otherwise Chapelle wouldn't be banged up in Bali 4 kg boogie board?????? So no problems for export, thats good. I'm sure I saw your photo in the Gympie hall of shame ....Ha Ha Just taking the p***,catch up for a beer next year in Sydney. Cheers Moss
  12. Ron, Hope you don't fall off the mortal coil too soon,we as a society appear to forget lessons learned, all too rapidly. It is good to see there are still people out there with enough conviction and confidence to remind others of how we ended up in this civilised western society. Hopefully clear heads will prevail in the decisions that will be dished out to us in regards to edged weapons. Perhaps they could link sword ownership to the firearms license and for those that don't have one they could go through the licensing process ,join the sporting shooters and add even more lobbying power to their numbers....Just a thought I wonder how the SSAA(Sporting Shooters Association Australia)would go with that Cheers Moss
  13. Hello all, I was hoping to get some help regarding exporting a sword to the U.S. Are there any problems doing so from the Australian end? What are the requirements for the U.S end? Also is there any prefered carrier inside the U.S? Or if you can think of any other pifalls a heads up would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Moss
  14. Hello all, I just recieved this from a mate of mine and thought it would be relevant to this thread. http://www.knivesaustralia.com.au/sword ... toria.html Cheers Moss
  15. Hi all , I guess one of the reasons we should be happy to have the State government layer in our politics is not all laws are uniform. David it's interesting that NSW tried a similar proposal to VIC but ran out of steam when opposed. They must have been having a siesta south of the border when there laws came to pass     Lets hope if the time comes to fight any bills put forward ,collectors, exponants and the like of edged weapons and art pieces can present a cohesive body to push back. The Sporting Shooters have definately had some success through numbers. Cheers all Moss
  16. Gidday Doug, On a whole Australia is a great place to visit and live, don't let the potential changes scare you off. Just a shame that like elsewhere in the world a few bad apples spoil the barrel. At this stage only Victoria has the strong sword laws and the rest of the country is made up of states and territories with NON unified laws so there is still hope that the state governments push back........Hmmmm . We all watch and wait. Cheers Moss
  17. Hello all, another wacko hits the news last night, this time in Queensland......Holding a Knife to his wife/partners belly. Giddyup, the media is on fire, all caught on film. We will all be issued airline cutlery soon at this rate. Its a shame this beat up could effect the law abiding among us but then again it will be like the gun laws...only the most upstanading, law abiding citizens will be able to legally obtain and hold any restricted edged weapons . Maybe someone could use a politician as a weapon then we could ban them and have a buy-back.....sorry I forgot, the item to be bought back needs to have a value or be desired. Pollies have neither of these attibutes going for them Cheers Moss
  18. Simon and all , It's worse than the flu...the media seem to have been spruiking every incident envolving and edged utensil of late. I think they are looking for an outcome like little Johnnies gun controls, trouble is the media will probably keep beating this one for a while yet. If the government bans swords completely it will be an environmental disaster ....around Gympie!.....all those buried semi's,pumps and swords. Good grief it will become the rust belt of Australia    Simon, if Queensland holds out on any change just leave all your swords with me Cheers Moss
  19. Gidday Simon, when you decide to throw away the military fittings off your blades please PM me !!!!!!!!!!! I will kindly take them off your hands and help you out .I'm so nice I will give you some$$$$$ While I don't agree with separating things from a historical point of view ,I am sure this has happened before and will happen again. Next time you're in Brizzy I'll buy you a XXXX Cheers Moss
  20. Hello all, the saya is a standard iron one and has a matt/satin black finish with heavy well defined brush strokes. In a couple of spots there is the iron showing through and it appears that there is nothing else underneath. As I am on holiday at present and have promised not to go into work I can't scan it but I will have another crack with the camera, practise with the nasty beast will perhaps make me snap some better pics. Thanks for your help so far. thanks Moss
  21. G'day Stephen, Yes this is on the deck and yep I'm crap at photos. Regarding scanning the Kissaki...any tricks?I have had poor results with the scanner. I believe this could be quite an old blade and probably not in this area. Any tech help with getting better images appreciated. Oh the saya is matt with visible brush strokes? Why? Cheers Moss
  22. And a couple more pics Moss
  23. Hello here are a few of the gunto that Stephen wanted to see. Cheers Moss
  24. Hello Vaidas, Yes there is a junior officers parade sword amongst it and no I don't think the wakizashi is a pilots sword. I was cleaning these today and thought it would be a bit of fun to put them up. Cheers Moss
  25. Jean, I can only dream and dribble. Nice looking Tanto. Bonne Annee Moss
