  1. Still available, still open to offers. Happy New Year everyone!
  2. Lowering to $3,200 USD, and still accepting further offers. Merry Christmas for anybody reading this!
  3. Good day everyone, I apologize in advance if I make any faux pas, I am not the most active and rarely sell. Please let me know if I can improve the listing and I will be happy to do so. I have a niche but fun piece I'm letting go of today to focus more on expanding my dirk & dagger collection. It is the 1 of 1 reference piece at page 376 of Jim Dawson's Cyclopedia. Origin: Late Meiji to early Taisho period (circa 1890–1925) (This is entirely speculative, but others I have consulted believe similar based on the design and markings) Blade: Handmade with faintly visible hamon, showing minor chips and some wear appropriate for its age. It is unmarked. Grip: White ray skin Mon: Wisteria mon, historically associated with the Fujiwara clan and a variety of other families (see textbook for more details). I'm looking for $4,000 USD, Edit: I am also open to offers. I am located in Canada. We currently have a postal worker union strike by Canada Post which is causing runoff issues with UPS and Purolator. I believe FedEx and DHL are still available, but this is forewarning that there may be delays with shipping in the short-term. Thank you very much.
  4. Lots of potential here. I hope this actually gets seen, hehe. Modern OCR technology is incredible. I threw this image by itself into: https://www.imagetotext.info/ Here is the raw characters it got (might not be 100% accurate of course): 階級と年代で模様 if 1 (6 17 And here is the translated version (Google): I will continue to wear the medals I received as a non-commissioned officer even after I retire. When I was in junior high school, a specially promoted second lieutenant was my gymnastics teacher, and on the day of the ceremony, he wore the Order of the Rising Sun, 6th Class, and the Order of Gold, 6th Class. However, officers who are promoted to special rank are promoted to major, but by the time they become captain they should have been awarded an even higher medal, so it is no wonder that captains have medals. 8th grade. The Order of the Rising Sun with Small Ribbons is awarded to those who have achieved great deeds even in peacetime, and the Order of the Sacred Treasure is awarded to hard-working people, regardless of whether they are in wartime or peacetime. 5. I hope reviving this thread for the future reference of others is acceptable. I recently happened upon one of these from an auction in the U.S. from the collection of a Michael Quigley. Attached are some photos (I can't take better ones myself). Unfortunately lacking the locking pin. So there are at least 3 floating around now. Mine is also shagreen, not leather. I haven't seen this particular one referenced elsewhere outside of this thread, the auction or the Banks book noted above. I'll be taking it apart eventually to see if the blade has a mei.
  6. Hello! Recently acquired this custom police saber with 2.5 mon, all seem to be the same. Looks very similar to some others posted in here (the wisteria), but the others posted lack the characters inside of the leaves. Greatly appreciate any insight. I've seen https://irohakamon.com/symbol.html posted here as a good resource, but is there a guide to navigating it? I'm not sure if mine is actually in there, though. Any other free resources (for now) are appreciated, fewer people I'll have to pester
