Thanks @Mark S.! I think you nailed it. Sword is worth as much, as someone is willing to pay for it. Maybe I was looking for comments to justify my idea of 'good deal'. Anyway, I just wanted to share (or boast ... sorry) about my new acquisition. As it is really nice sword, looks way better then on pictures. Cheers! And thanks again everyone for your help and comments!

I've seen a way better swords here on this forum for sell, even for less. Check 'for sale' section. If you have that budget, then maybe add 500/1000EURO more and you will afford even better (and in Koshirae) swords.

It is Gimei, not Mumei (Mumei = no signature). And yes, seller is right, looks like poorly made Gimei (engraved Mei). Like Brian wrote, if it is up to 500$, you can buy it as entry/learning sword. All depends on what you are looking for. I personally wouldn't buy it, even for 400$. I doubt that. Do you know how much professional polish costs? I don't think it makes sense to do it for this sword.

Found another one TH rated: https://www.samuraimuseum.jp/shop/product/antique-Japanese-sword-wakizashi-signed-by-fujiwara-kunitsugu-nbthk-tokubetsu-hozon-certificate/

My guess is based on Sugata and Nakago. Echizen Seki is a Shinto school. All is just a guess from newbie collector

Shinto Echizen (seki)?

Dear NMB, Last request on this sword, if you please. Give me rough estimation on how much it is worth. I think I made a good deal and I'm eager to see what others think. PS. I like this sword very much and not intend to re-sell, just curious on your thoughts.

I can sell you mine Koto Bizen Osafune Wakizashi. It comes with very nice Koshirae too. Check this out: https://www.militaria.co.za/nmb/topic/48905-could-it-be-bizen-kiyomitsu-which-one I can sell it for 2750$ + shipping costs.

Possible = yes Reasonable (also if you add costs) = I don't think so If you are looking for training sword (my understanding) then maybe it is better (and cheaper) to sell this one and look for a new one that meets your criteria (bohi etc...)?

My advice, make your first purchase here on forum, from dealer/member with good reputation. You won't regret it. I can't say much about the blade you posted, better (and more) pictures could help you to get more opinions. Looks like O-suriage Koto blade. Thin Suguha and Hamachi might suggest it has seen multiple polish. Might be showing core of the blade (as @sabiji pointed) due to that. What is the blade attribution per NBTHK?

Thank you very much for explanation.

@Nihonto student Thank you very much! Is this 1632? Exactly, almost perfect sword. Still, I was able to afford it due to that ware on Kissaki. Any ideas what is that note on revers of NBTHK certificate?

Hello NMB! As always I'm looking forward to see your valuable comments. Please let me know what you think about this sword. What can you tell me about smith? Is my Mei translation correct (Fujiwara Kunitsugu)? And especially, what is that note on revers of NBTHK certificate? First time I see this. Why were some Kanji 'hidden' (still readable I think)? Please advise, thanks!

Beautiful! To rich for my blood unfortunately

Hi, Dots on the Nakago-Mune is a thing that interests me. I have something similar on my Koto Bizen Wakizashi and can't find any explanation on what that means. Do you have any ideas?
-
Hi, Welcome! Please share more photos. Looks like a nice sword.

Thanks for the explanation!
