Wow thats awesome thank you for linking this so quickly, apologies I did have a search before I posted but I had not came accross this thread, so I appreciate it. I will need to get someone to look at it properly to see as its not been kept in great shape, many years of rough life, people have not been kind to the blade.

Hello hello, So happy to find this forum - So much knowlege in one place. I have inherited what appears to be a relitively old Wakizashi. I have tried my best to mess about in photoshop to try bring out the detail but it is very difficult. Would anyone be willing and able to help me out. This is my atempt so far; Side A: 年 ..... [Toshi (Chika)?] Side B: 日本 ....... [Nihon] I will update if I find out more of its history into the family. I will be looking into getting someone UK (Scotland) baced to "clean/restore" it if anyone has some suggestions that would be super helpful. Many thanks in advance, Dave.
