  1. I just saw this on ebay and thought of you. https://www.ebay.com...04ef&redirect=mobile
  2. hello everyone, I found this Nami school tsuba with waves in an uncleaned state (photos 1 and 2), I started as always to clean it with soap and toothbrush, copper dots appeared ( pictures 3 and 4). Today I continued cleaning, I try with my ivory punch but I'm afraid to make a mistake, there is better (photos 5 and 6), I oiled a little to see. Tell me if it's worth leaving like this or if I can continue. Thanks in advance. PS: I hope not to have the same surprise as the other Tsuba.....
  3. With this photo and especially the name, I don't know if there are still archives available to know if he survived the war... I'm still curious. Where did you find this photo, with the gunto?

    Tsuba I made

Congratulations, I find it very successful. Good luck for the future and looking forward to future achievements.
  5. Good or not, there are still details for a standard tsuba especially since there are several variants, there is still research. good after if I do not sell it I will keep it for the example of purchase not to reproduce.
  6. It's a shame, in the end we won't be who to believe on sales.
  7. I'm calm, it was to relax. it's very stupid, especially for Sabbah whom I know a little because he is very good at polishing the blade. Hence also my remark on the fact that now I ask here before any purchase. Excuse me again.
  8. If I understand correctly, instead of saying more or less Edo period (beginning, middle or end...), they date in centuries or era "the name where my finger fell in a book"... I had stayed focused on the estimate. I apologize. I understand quickly but it takes a long time to explain. If that's what I understand. SORRY YOJIMBO, I don't want you to get angry, I'm trying to understand my mistake.
  9. Dale, so there, respect, you had to scratch hard on the net to find all this. I am amazed at all these models, almost all different with or without gilding. so ultimately the small tsuba is cheap. Thank you for everything .
  10. It is sure that on the pieces of armor I am not too competent. It was just to answer you with regard to Catawiki and on the more or less dubious auctions of the objects. I'm not saying they're all bad. What I do not understand is when I type the full name which is written I come across the previous auction which is much lower level estimate, that's why I explained what I had discovered with professional sellers. After if I did not understand for the named expert, thank you for the clarification. Afterwards personally I prefer to ask now about the group of that I see some things that catch my eye, I have more confidence in the judgments of people here than elsewhere.
  11. I think bought by the same person who sells and who wants to make a good profit.
  12. I think that the expert's photo judgment is just to recognize a real from a fake. After if I have understood the system on the estimates of the expert, it is above all the seller who gives his price with a reservation price more or less distant from this estimate. I had fun on some pro sellers to find the items offered on their web pages and the reserve price is often the selling price on their websites.
  13. Thank you, indeed. a mold but on the one I put up for sale this morning at my house does not have the same traces of wear. In any case, I think this story will serve as a lesson to me, to be very careful on the net, finally on auction sites. I'm going to calm down a bit and read, learn with the books that I just bought. Thanks again for all your replies.
  14. Yes I will sell it, I will see that. THANKS
  15. Thank you gentlemen, well luckily I didn't pay a fortune, it was dirty, traces of rust, photos which vaguely showed a signature but I thought it was due to a tsuba not cleaned, I said to myself why not we'll see . well, what am I going to do with it 😒🤔 .....
  16. Hello everyone, I recently received a tsuba and asked Ray Singer if he could translate the signature for me. I had a doubt about the tsuba, finally the signature, on the auction site it was however written Edo period, well I did not buy it a fortune either. Anyway... Ray gave me the name but also told me that for him it was a series production. I didn't want to bother him anymore but my question is, were there a lot of tsuba made by mold and mass produced in the Edo period? By cleaning it, toothbrush and soap, I discovered gold, was it also common? I ended up putting oil, that's why it shines. Thanks to Ray and thanks in advance for future answers. Good day.
  17. Patrice Sabbah's Yari are wonderful, I had the chance to see them 1 month and a half ago, I almost fell in love, he was preparing his coming to the show and showed me what he was taking, there was very beautiful pieces, I had beautiful chills.
  18. Anyway the French customs are not friendly, there is always something to make us pay.
  19. It is a very beautiful achievement in any case, the carp is splendid, I love it.
  20. In March I bought a wakizashi in Japan, it took a month and a half to leave, well after that I don't know what happened with French customs but that's another story but it stayed there a long time for exit papers.
  21. Thank you dear Piers San 🙂, so it's Chinese 😐😒 thin. I had a doubt dt google translation told me Japanese but could not translate and not Chinese suddenly I bought, I liked it, well I always like Chinese. I still have a lot to learn.... Thanks again.
  22. Hello everyone, I have just found a very pretty vase, incense burner or funeral urn at an Asian junk dealer with a phoenix, flowers... It's bronze. On the other hand, I would like to have the translation of the cartouche as well as your opinion, recent or older period. THANKS.
  23. The easiest way would be to have your laptop translated with google translation, it works pretty well.
  24. Nice Soten tsuba. I like his style, lots of details, it's a katana size I think!, right?
  25. The #3 and #9 are nice I think. On the other hand for most auctions it's true, they only show ube face, I don't understand why? Always ask for more information.
