Super! Thanks a lot!

I am leaning towards the bronze one. Besides, will try to study signature. Got this book in the morning post.

Thank you, Dan. I see. I'd rather have one in my hands. Not for a sake of collecting, but more like handling...At this stage I am looking at more common inexpensive items. What do you think is the fair price on it ? Although this thing is not expensive, I don't want to overpay for it.

Hello everyone! Here I am again. Asking for some guidance. I have seen 2 tsuba in adequate price range for me 70 -110€ Now, they are with the same motif, virtually identical. Craftsmanship not the top of the range, but it appeals to me. Looking for an advice, which one is ...dunno how to put it...better? Or buy them both? I mean if they are both original, traditionally made, then why not? Thank you in advance. Number one Second one (looks slightly more detailed )

Of course it realise that. I should start somewhere. Hands on experience for a beginner is more than great. I have learnt a lot already with these 2 swords, so few hundreds I spent on them were totally worth it. -
Hello everyone. I have a sword which, let's say is "Satsuma Rebellion" style sword. Few items not quite right there.. I was thinking maybe to fix them: - replace tsuba for a not damaged, period correct, plain one - replace habaki, as the one that is on the sword just a half of 2 part piece - fit sageo.. Basically this is it Do it or leave it? Maybe other suggestions? Regards Vitaly

Thank you! As I understand both swords are traditionally made? I am hanging only with wakizashi. Unfortunately no options so far... Is the signature legit? ( Ray Singer previously mentioned that it is not consistent.) But maybe closer look will bring more clarity?

Thank you! I will.

Hi Jean! Thank you! Only one problem: I don't think there are such experts in Ireland. But maybe be I am wrong, and then I will be extremely excited to meet one. So far I can rely only on forums....

Hello gentlemen I have received 2 swords that I have bought recently (some comments were made already in my first post about them, but pictures were bad so here I am again). These are the first ever blades I am holding in my hands. I would like to establish some starting point for my future judgement. I will greatly appreciate if you nice people could comment on these pieces. Everything is interesting (I really enjoying reading your comments here!!! ) Is there anything good about them? Too many pictures so I have google album with them here Regards Vitaly

Thank you! Sounds very interesting. Especially when you mentioned wormholes. Is there...of course it is some meaning behind it? Can you tell me more?

Hello everyone I have these two tsubas, they came with the swords ( those will post in different section later) I would like to learn more about motifs on both of them. So far I understand that first one features cross and geese ( right?) And the second one is tomoe. This is it. I will appreciate any input Regards Vitaly

Hi Dan! Thank you so much! Your information is more than helpful! And that exactly what I am after - trying to develop skills to distinguish "real" from "not real", or more like "antique" against the "modern repro", (detailed understanding will come with experience and learning.) I am familiar with the process, something similar I have been trough when started to collect Iron Crosses....

I hope I am not too annoying, but since we are talking about this thing anyway. Could someone, please, point at obvious or perhaps not so red flags on this particular one. For me, it is just very, very important to get as much info as possible. Many thanks in advance! I have here bigger pictures

I had mixed feelings about this one. Thank you for an in depth clarification.

Thank you, all! Got it.

Hello everyone! I am "building" an uniform display. I have Artillery Captain uniform, Meiji 19 type. Wanted to have matching sward. Not nessecarily with blade, koshirae with tsunagi will do me at the moment. So I got one. My questions are: 1. According to backstrap design this one is for company officers. Is that correct? 2. Backstrap has mon - is it possible to tell a name? 3. Black tassel. is it supposed to be there or golden one should be used? 4. I have a belt with blue backing. I believe it is also for company officers. Am I right? 5. I guess the metal ring on the belt goes onto that strap on the uniform? Kinda makes sense but I am not sure.... Thank you in advance Regards Vitaly

I guess we can dismiss my questions. Item is a fantasy piece. Looked good on photos. Very wrong in reality.
