  1. I searched Dawson’s reference guide and found nothing in the court official section. This would definitely be a neat addition to someone’s collection if it is legit. https://www.ebay.com/itm/234814415947?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=ZeLaYyzXTCO&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=5b5Igx0HQ7e&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
  2. @jessei actually live in Gaffney, I’m 40 minutes south of Charlotte. If you know of places close by let me know!
  3. @Bruce PenningtonI need to go to a sword show and handle some of these types in person. I believe I discussed this in another thread with some members but my state is pretty bare of Nihonto groups and sword shows so unless I travel out of state, I’m relying solely on books, you all and whatever I purchase. The seller has it listed at 450 for the initial bid or make an offer. I think that’s fairly respectable however he informed me that he couldn’t take additional pictures as he has a “crappy camera”. I’m on the fence on making him an offer without better pictures of the blade :/
  4. @Bruce Pennington thanks Bruce, I haven’t seen an initial type this faded yet
  5. Hey all, a seller just posted this blade at a crazy low price. Looks like an Aluminum handle NCO. The price is so low I do not care if the numbers match. Pics are not the best but I asked seller for more. If y’all think this is legit, I’m going to pull the trigger on it and it’ll be my first NCO type 95. Price is so low the blade will prob sell in an hour or two but as I know, if it’s too good to be true, it’s false
  6. @ChrisWIm in South Carolina, the only group I’m aware of is the Asian Sword arts group but it is not strictly Japanese.
  7. @PNSSHOGUN I’ll look into Aoi, I didn’t know that was a thing. I wish their were collectors near me but I’ve briefly researched and there are none in my state to link up with…that’s my issue with determining legitimacy of NCO shin guntos as I’ve never held one in hand. I have my resources but it’s nice to be able to go off what’s in hand.
  8. I only collect Japanese militaria blades and I know this sounds weird, but I feel as if this sword is calling to me. It’s obviously a no frills mumei blade. Sort of reminds me of what a rebellion blade from the late 1800s may have looked like…anyways, my questions is, is this blade made from Tamahagane? The tsuba looks old and there are remenants of ray skin hanging from the wooden handle. I will attach pics
  9. @Seth excuse the poor camera angle but I have one as well. Didn’t think much of it until you said that.
  10. @Seththats disappointing ….not sure if the price is far off though
  11. https://www.ebay.com/itm/304443165171?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=XPZXHWDtRNO&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=5b5Igx0HQ7e&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY This is an alleged Naval Kai gunto Officer’s pattern. Fuller has this as a rarer blade to find among militaria. BUT, what is up with this blade? It almost looks copper washed. The 5 brass fittings are present. I don’t see much in Fuller’s book on this sword other than the blade could be machined, forged, or ancestral. But that also goes without saying this is a scarcer variation. As always, lemme know what you think
  12. And the plot thickens
  13. @lonely paneti have Dawsons coming in about a week, USPS is killing me
  14. @Bruce Penningtoni had no idea. Thanks for letting me know I will have to look into finding that edition
  15. @Utopianarianthat blade was roughly 1500 with several days left. Someone made that seller an offer he could not refuse.
  16. @Geraint You aren’t kidding! This book is going to take me a while haha thanks!
  17. Fullers just came in today and dawkins comes in next week. Haven’t had to a chance to pull Fullers out of the mail!
  18. Check the backstrap out, it’s not a run of the mill type 19
  19. @Bruce Pennington here are the requested pictures. I believe the Kyu Gunto 19 is a Taiwan occupation blade
  20. I’m definitely going to make a note of this for future reference!
  21. Wow, @Tenshohow are you able to tell they’re Chinese? I’m intrigued
  22. @Bruce Penningtonnice read, I would get this easily confused with a fake due to the poor quality
  23. @vajo This forum is labeled Japanese fittings which I will link a picture of. Furthermore, I’m not spamming as I’m asking a question about Seppa which is a fitting. Also, if you would actually read my topic their is a second question regarding the change in Seppa from Kyu-gunto to Shin-gunto. This is not a militaria question. It is Seppa related.
  24. @vajomy bad, I must have misread the eBay portion of the forum description
  25. @b.hennickdo you think it’s authentic? The blades with blood grooves I have seen typically go to the length of the blade, this one stops short. I asked for pics of the tang, seller says no markings
