@vajoRight now, I’m focusing on type 19, 98, 95 and certain Naval guntos. I love Japanese military blades! I also do not have the budget for older katanas from periods outside the 1900s
-
@vajoi put a bid in on it, now @Stephenhas me nervous lol

Hey guys, this type 98 fittings are NOT matching up with the ones I’m seeing in Dawson’s guide. Can someone steer me in the right direction?
-
I’ll move it over

Here is an example on a type 19 parade sword. I would like to buy it but unfortunately the seller wants 3.5 times what a normal type 19 sells for due to the crest…
-
Not sure what you mean @Stephen

Thanks Dan, I’ve got a brother that is in college in Charleston. I’ll definitely hit you up one of these days!
-
@PNSSHOGUN right now this type falls into the period I’m collecting and, these are the only ones available on the internet.

I don’t know anything about Japanese armor but right now, these two helmets are at a very low bid and I may toss my hat into the ring. Is there anything I need to know? Only picture on their site.

@Bruce Penningtonyea I did notice that. It’s not exactly honest
-
True, I have a naval commissioned officers kyu gunto like that.

Remarkable @John C! I am thoroughly impressed you recognized that. Indeed it is him and he also declined to provide pictures of the nakago.

@Bruce Penningtonhey Bruce, just wanted to let you know in my conquest of finding Japanese edged military online, I stumbled across this, yet again! It seems they took your advice, yes, this is legacy collectibles on gunbroker. They have removed this from their formal website and placed it at auction https://www.gunbroker.com/Item/961218484

@vajoi just requested them. I’ll post if either seller sends them.

@vajowhich one, there are two blades. One being on a carpet and the other on the still blue

Hey all, I have discovered 2 separate Japanese police patrolman/sergeant swords. These seem kind of rare to me and these two are not having much traction on fleebay with one sitting at 450 and the other 6. My question is, are these blades (pictures below) machined or traditionally made. The patrolman/sergeant type is the only model intended for service thus, machined/handmade blades were utilized. I however, am struggling to see the difference as Dawson only provided a single example and both of these appear to be variations of that example.

Thanks Rob, I’ll keep browsing and see what I can find. I’m just trying to find a 95 without breaking the bank. I’ll follow up later if i find another contender! Someone commented yesterday and they live about an hour away so hopefully they can help me navigate this community locally

Funny you mention that @Bruce Pennington, seller does not accept returns.
-
@Tensho is there a list of names in the NMB with sellers that forge items? That would be very beneficial

@Grey Doffinthanks for the input Grey, that’s unfortunate
