Is this a hex nut on the end of the guard!?! My type 19s do not look like this. Can someone help verify this before I buy it, I need a Japanese police type 19 in my collection but this seems off.

What made me think this was legit was the end cap fitting favors late war models that were thrown together and low quality.

I’m considering buying this piece so this is the best I can do picture wise. Was told it was a vet bring back but I’m not familiar with this model?

I inherited this sword from a dear friend of mine and he knew everything about it and I even remember him talking about it on a few occasions. I thought he had paperwork with the blade but after his passing it would be impossible to get it. With that said, can anyone tell me anything about it? This was a close friend of mine and I know nothing about the sword which I feel is a disservice to him. I’d greatly appreciate the help.
