Will have this in a few days. Seller stated he can make out bishu osafune and oei ni ju. Any red flags against oei bizen from the “crappy” pics?
I will update with measurements and better pics when it is received.
Thanks in advance!
Just want to get some general opinions on the signature. Another member thinks I have a shot so I just wanted to get a few more opinions before restoration is decided.
Thanks In advance!
Completely hizen, which is next to chikuzen. This is the only smith I can find in that time period and area so I would like to eliminate this one and go from there. But it seems logical, I think
I picked this up as another purchase fell through and I have a hunch I'm correct but..??
If anyone has any additional information on this smith other than Markus's book(pictured) I would appreciate any info!
Thanks in advance!!
And yes someone in the states took a dremel and tried to copy the mei on the tsuba????????????
I have been informed the mei says, "made for the commemoration to departure for front of the Second Sino-Japanese War (1937)". So as this is a commemoration, probably given to or ordered by a certain group of soldiers. Thank you Markus !
If anyone has any reference on this smith please let me know!
Hello, trying to verify if the mei is for participation or commemoration of the end of the Chinese incident..
Thanks in advance!
Matt
(Thanks for the correction!)
Does anyone have a recommendation for shipping companies to use? Ups was only global express and was 300usd, waiting for my DHL quote, does anyone use usps?
Thanks in advance!
Matt
I am trying to find more info about a shinshinto smith who worked in Musashi, Nakayama Yoshimichi per aoi-art "Yoshimichi is adoption of Ikkansai Yoshihiro".
Any help is appreciated!

Matt
A friend about 18yrs ago found a missing Kotetsu tanto with horimoni of daikokuten in a small town in IN which was also listed as missing in the kotetsu meikan and is now back in Japan.
Ok, just got it. Yoroi-doshi sugata 9mm kasane.
No yasuimei like your pic.. It's ububa, nakago looks lightly cleaned, top ana I believe is punched second smaller one is drilled.
I'm confused
I received some input from others and a may be a koto tanto where the machiokure was performed by toshihide.. I believe the nakago was cleaned a little.
Just to let everyone know how cool our little community is and especially how cool Chris K (higosan) is, he has offered to split the winning bid and allow me to keep my menuki as they are worth more!
So rare!!
