The seller told me he think it was made pre ww2. Probably before arround year 1940-45, there was many guntos for high rank officers that never see the light because it was many on stock, or the officer inself has his own family sword, etc. Dificult to know, and after the war in last showa times was mounted on a custom civil koshirae maybe, hard to know exactly it was buyed with other several swords gunto and samurai antiques in Japan
