Hi all, new here! Recently acquired a WWII sword from my great grandfather. We were aware he had it somewhere, but its location was unknown until last week. @Bruno thanks for your help! Looking for a replacement type 3 black Ashi. It’s just going to be a piece that stays within the family so I just want it to look nice. I re-did the Tsuka-Ito with the original cord, just to keep it together. It came undone sometime in the past. Not perfect but looks much better!

Recently found this World War II take home sword going through my grandfathers old things. I’m not necessarily concerned with the value as much as understanding some history behind it. From what I’ve seen and read it appears to be late production ~1944 with the brown metal Saya and Kabuto-gane. Having trouble with translation and identification from the symbols. Please assist if you can. Thanks!
