  1. No the auction house was Stockholms Auktionsverk Köln. The highest bid was 2657 € but the item was withdrawn... ;). I Searched a little bid and the tanto was sold last year at another auction house (Dr. Eder https://www.auktion-eder.de/los/los-692-tanto-kurzschwert-in-gruener-rochenhautscheide/#)
  2. Thank you very much for your reply! This tanto is for sale at a German auction house in Cologne, before a possible bid I wanted to hear a professional opinion because I was already skeptical. It is a shame what is offered as "original" at serious houses. By the way, the estimate is 5,700 € (about $ 6200) .
  3. Hello, thank you so far. I hope these pictures will help. Best regards Lucas
  4. Hello, i would kindly ask if someone could help me translate this mei on this tanto. Im wondering which smith made it and when. Thank you!
  5. For more clarification, yes its from komonjo. So after all i've read so far online, this is most likely a gimei sword with unknown identity. Also Bryce is right with this, i checked again and they aren't aligned properly on one side of the blade (wasn't visible on the original pictures from offering).
  6. Thank you all so far. So it was right to be skeptical after all .
  7. Hello you all and thank you for taking time for me. I've only been into Japanese swords for a few years and recently got a new katana from the US. It was offered as a Gendaito but I am not sure if thats correct and I would like to hear your opinion on the sword. It is signed "Seki Kanehide saku". As far as I know Kanehide was a RJT smith. However, there are no stamps on the sword. I would like to know as much as possible about it, especially if it is a real Gendaito from Kanehide and how old it is (WW2 or after the war). I hope the pictures are ok. I am looking forward to your opinions. I uploaded a video on youtube as well for better overview. Some data: Nagasa: 72.0 cm, Sori: 1.5 cm, Moto-haba: 3.1 cm. (The sword was not that expensive, so don't hold back on any bad news. I still have a lot to learn).
