  1. Any info on this mokko tsuba? Bought it off eBay to put on one of my swords.
  2. Ah yes I think you may be referring to simon lee. He changed hands to zsey and they still make wonderful blades
  3. Thanks again, but my question is are there any known smiths or forges in china and korea that are known to make these, or is it theory that it may just be something the so called "master smiths" make in their off time?
  4. I see what you mean. Also I shouldve mentioned that the whole blade was refitted by an sbg forum member, so that explains the habaki. Only the tsuba and kojiri are antique. Thank you for the lengthy explanation though. Also I didn't get it expecting that it was a legit nihonto
  5. Thank you for the input! Would you guys mind sharing pictures of suguha hamon that you wouldn't consider lifeless? Just so I can see the difference
  6. Once ups delivers it I will take more detailed pics of it
  7. Hi! I am rather new to nihonto, and the first thing I have learned regarding them is that you should never try to polish one yourself. That got me interested: are there any horror stories you veterans know of people that don't know better or are just arrogant polishing their nihonto themselves?
  8. Got this antique tsuba off ebay for 35 bucks. Wondering if you guys can give me anyt details about it, like school or time period. Diameter is around 68mm, thickness is around 4-5mm
  9. Any key features that make it obvious that it is chinese? the kissaki and the polish seem rather good for a chinese reproduction.
  10. I have an iaito and multiple other shinken for iaito, but was interested in this particularly the dimensions of it. Ive had people told me its a chinese blade, but I havent ever seen a chinese made plade with such a prominent kissaki and polish
  11. Hi, I posted this in the translation assistance board, but didn't get too many replies besides what the signature says. Here are some pics. I'm buying this fully mounted to use for kata, and am curious wtf it is.
  12. If you want me to send more pics, I can. I haven't received the sword yet, as I have yet to pay fully for it due to credit card issues, but Im not paying too much for it. Also note the fittings are new, done up by a member of sbg forums
  13. Yeah i see what you mean. Here is the whole blade by the way
  14. oops my bad for it being upside down. I didnt buy it directly from komonjo, I bought it newly mounted off someone else. Also i bought it for martial arts use, not as if it was an antique.
  15. Hi, I am wondering what the translation for this sword from komonjo is. Im assuming it is gimei, but am still interested.
  16. https://www.ebay.com/itm/175272609306?nma=true&si=qgB1j1aE6V7pYmJdXLFhNk24LdQ%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 Im new to nihonto, and would like to get into the hobby. I saw this listing on ebay and something seemed off about it, but the seller insists it is real.
