    Tsuba Question #2

Here is another tsuba that was just kicking around in one of Dad's boxes. I like it better than the first one I posted. Any comments on this one? Thanks Greg

    Tsuba Question

Hello Sources of All Knowledge- I have a tsuba that came with a sword that belonged to my father. It is OK, but I did not pay much attention to it until I ran across a very similar one on ebay listed at a high Buy-it-Now price. http://cgi.ebay.com/Antique-Japanese-Samurai-Katana-Sword-Iron-Tsuba_W0QQitemZ370126088122QQihZ024QQcategoryZ162978QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem I have no intention of selling mine, but wondered if this was truly a valuable piece. Differences: mine has what appears to be a shakudo wropping on the edge; mine has a signature (_____ yoshi); there are traces of old gold applied to the surface. Comments?? (It's OK to tell me that it is junk - I don't know enough to have a collector opinion/ego yet...) Thanks Greg
  3. Thank you everyone!!! Greg
  4. John- No, not been to any shinsa. I will try to take some better pictures. It looks closest to the next to the bottom one of yours. Thanks Greg
  5. John- Here are some pictures of my tanto. I am not very skilled at taking these pictures as yet, and the blade needs work, but is this more what you would expect? Thanks Greg
  6. I am a novice at Nihonto and have tried to figure out the mei on this wakizashi that I've had for many years. The closest I can come up with is Kanemichi or possibly Kanechika. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Greg
  7. Walter- I have a very similar tanto/aikuchi with a very similar signature. It appears to be Muromachi period, but Kanemoto was used by a group of smiths. Photo of signature attached.
