I am primarily interested in koto period Nihonto. I have been known to be tricked by the odd Shinto/Shinshinto piece though!

About Me

I am a currently a police officer in Toronto, Canada for 34 years but who is counting. I was in the Canadian army for 5 years before that. The kids are all grown and out of the house for the most part. Like all good coppers I am divorced. So life is good and so is the cash flow.

I have been collecting Nihonto for about 35 years. Family life did it’s best to impede me but I persevered! They got 90% but I saved 10% for me. Thank God! The swords gave me an excuse to remain sane.
Currently I am the president of the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre Token Kai in Toronto. I am sure there will be a coup when Covid is over and the JCCC gets back to normal. However, until then , I still get to flaunt my title! It actually did help at the Dai Token Ichi so if you don’t have a great deal of cash get yourself a title. All kinds of doors open up!

I collect mainly Yamato related blades. I like the Sohei relationship.

I do oshigata as well. It’s a great way to study.

I try and practice kantei however without seeing prime examples all the time there is a gap that books just can’t fill. That being said I would argue that kantei is the best way to learn about Nihonto. It helps train your eyes.

I have been on this site off and on over the years. Even wrote a few posts. I’m back!

In a very small nutshell that’s me.
Oh also..my word is good!
