  1. I can take a Koto Blade outside when the sun is shining at my back and move it in small degrees. In NO WAY am I going to observe anything close with photos.
  2. It's the Web where everyone is a expert.
  3. In 2012 Tanobe called out the fall of the sword market and the Japanese yen. It was 13+, now it's 30- under.
  4. Smart move, thier will definitely be a better deal down the road if you so choose.
  5. George, No worries, my brother works for a hospital. I think he had 4-5 vacs and got C19 three times. Front line deserve what ever they recieve monetarily. For some reason bundling koshirae is some Kind of Western World marketing thing.
  6. When looking at purchasing a high value sword, I personaly don't like the koshirae as a bundle ptece. Unless that koshirae has a free value in the deal. Thats just me anyway, Good to see our tax dollars are buying a sword.
  7. This wouldn't be such a small hobbey if that weren't true. If it weren't for mass confussion and some kind of self proclaimed nobility no one would profit. Someone has to buy all the lower quility "stuff" so the higher quility survive. It takes a while to figure it out
  8. You are absolutely correct. It's also a falsey to state the mass produced prosess can't produce special order items.
  9. Where, or who did Sesko recieve his literal "kazuuchi-mono" translation from? Let me make an analogy. All Japanese Miltary swords traditionaly made were mass produced in large numbers thus inferrior. I don't believe this is true but "similar" logic.
  10. Interesting! Can you provide documanation and multiple sources of information. Logical? "just good enough for one battle" That's not very logical for battle, or that time periods methods. For the record, Tsuba has nothing to do with my inquirie.
  11. , Where did Sesko find this information? What and WHO is the source?. Valadation occurs with more than one sources when a premise is challenged. This's exactly the same as what I call circuler reporting. One news agencey reports a story out of there buttox and all the others follow the story as being true, Has anyone notice information doesn't change in this hobby? America and other contries were the center of mass weapenry production and it worked ou tfor them. "just good enough for one battle" is the craziest premise of war I've heard in this hobby.
  12. "Kazu-uchi-mono was a sword made just good enough for one battle. They were not made for permanent preservation." Ya, this is a Mantra which came from a bad source of material. For some reason it's a highly repeated Gaff, If anything was produced Kazu uchi mono would most definitely been Polearms and arrows used in 80% of the battles. If a weapon was made so flimsily is sure wouldn't last 100's of years. Can anyone really identify the source of this writing from the 15-16C.
  13. Can't see much, but here are some assumptions. $5K for the 28" sword, papers, shirasaya and $3K for the koshirae. Not a bad deal at all monetarily , but is that what you want. Sometimes keeping hands in one owns pocket is a virtue. Good deals come and go all the time.
  14. "According to the person telling the story, A great beam of light reached down out of the sky. Along it, riding upon a bright cloud, came the first living person to set foot on the earth. He was the father of the human race. Notice how this is very similar to UFO sighting stories; a beam of light from the sky, an individual descending in the beam, etc." Same phenomenon occurred with American Indians. Very coincidental.
  15. Ya.... what ever he said In this day and age everyone deserves everything for free. Here is some free info. The sword is short for a Katana measurement. Know one will able to tell you "exactly why". It is what it is regardless the guess. Someone "polished" that blade in the near past, but the blade has no file marks. The finished Saya appears has some issues which caused the Polished blade many many scratches. Educated guessing- That blade has been around the block a few times and has been to Shinsa. It didn't pass, hence no papers. How much is all that worth monetarily? Depends how much money you're willing to pay. I suggest going to this website ( it's free) and learning before leaping. http://www.japaneses...ndex.com/nihonto.htm
  16. Nagasa- 59? Check that measurement again, something not adding up.
  17. I had to look that up Saiha; one of the eight gods of the koyomi
  18. I believe some collectors need to look back on the older style Japanese polish of detailing and outline workmanship.
  19. From what is written, the sword was saved by hiding it in a water moat close to the residence. It's reasonable to assume the sword was kept on the higher levels for safety reasons.
  20. Possibly Missing the Mei Shosendo ?
  21. Good to see the blade didn't receive the overabundance of hadori polish. The hamon outline is well done IMOP. Also good judgement about not going deep. Well done!
  22. I never start treads but this popped up on my feed. The blade found its self back in the 1920's. Anyway, I'm into this, or it's into me.
