  1. You didn't need not say anything, as I can tell you are armature by your reaction to a bad polish. Tell me, do you state your a amateur polisher when you sell, or trade?
  2. Where you see a few cockroaches, means a whole many cockroaches,
  3. Please no more photos, it's hurting my constitution.
  4. Bows are much shorter for riding on horseback.
  5. Try flying in and out of California with a gun. Hell, try telling the guy at the State line you're traveling with a gun in your vehicle. Everyone is quoting the "letter of the Law". Do you really think employees know the "letter of the Law".
  6. $7000 for the Sword and $4000 for the Koshirae would be a good price if not for the Yen being at .66. The blade is O-suriage - No Mei. So It's give and take.. Length is fine for a Nanbokucho period Tachi, Boshi is ok for web photos.
  7. Winner Winner chicken dinner A couple options. You may want to have it professionally polished and papered. It looks to be worth it.
  8. Duct tape is invented during World War II.
  9. I like the look of it.
  10. How the NBTHK "used too" treat Gimei submissions. All one would receive back is the sword is Gimei and that's the end of that, money lost , time lost. It would be up to the sword owner to have the Gimei removed before submission "again". More, or less the sword owner is looking at a few years and $$$$. Now here comes a new collector with a Gimei sword from a auction looking for a lot more information. I'd say you are VERY fortunate to receive any help help at all.
  11. You're doing it right. Not everyone has the opportunities and able to take advantage of those opportunities. I don't think I would of gotten into Nihonto if not for the best geographic in the U.S. Not everyone gets to live down the road from a couple Togishi and several collectors.
  12. The Kissaki sure in the hell receives hadori. Made up with makeup Boshi is all over majority of 2nd rate polishes. I'm believe collectors don't understand the difference between a top polish and the "usual" internet polish posting:\.
  13. Like I posted a year ago, laws like this are only going to get worse, not better. Keep your powder dry!
  14. Actually the best way to learn is like Jacques said, a club, or with someone who has swords and guide you. Try this https://www.Japanese...ndex.com/nihonto.htm This keyboard learning will only get you so far.
  15. A few years back a "box" full of green papers were for sold on epray. and "someone" in the U.S. purchased them. Seller was Japan, Knowledge is power.
  16. I guess it's what a person learns by mistake, or in many cases receive a swindling. In this case ask what the shark likes to eat before swimming with the sharks.
  17. Smoky Salmon in a tight saya? That's a knew one
  18. If we only knew "who" was on 2nd base.
  19. Big name wakizashi sword going for cheap. Seems the 1st timers go for the big fish story , Wakizashi was the most produced sword in Japan as "almost" everyone got to wear one.
  20. They all had bad eyes after looking at glowing ambers all day with no eye protection. They all must of been deaf after listening all day to pounding metal with no hearing protection. JTK reputation? As said, they don't have one unless you just like what they have to say and it happens to benefit a story line,. Really nice? It's really nice for a 1st sword and in your own words, you didn't pay much. This is all subject on what you know and how big your wallet is. These swords get around Japan, USA and the UK a lot, Unless the sword is a back of the closet find assume others seen it. What this sword has given is the opportunity to learn. that's a good thing.
  21. It appears i'm always reading the same thing, Don't know anything about it, but I didn't pay much. You have "something". Don't know what it is, or what it isn't. Doesn't matter how good the photos are. it needs to be looked at in - hand. I don't believe the Mei is correct for the sword in Koto days. Looks Shinto but??? Most collectors leave Gimei intact and pass it down the road.. I'm sure that sword has been around the block a few times. If proven Gimei you can always remove and submit for papers as it's a nice sword, or just keep it intact.
  22. This may not be accurate but I have some memory of Jimmy Hayashi offering that Koshirae with his polishing for long swords. So there is a lot of them in circulation.
  23. This is amusing! The polish on that Tanto is NOT done by any of the top 10 polishers. What I see is you're trying to learn by posting a bunch of photos of lowball swords for sale in your price range. I sagest you start reading more about swords and keep your wallet closed for a bit. Learn more and think about it for a bit more time.
  24. I'm kind of confused, but what else is new. You both have TH papers on the same smith but the papers vague on the generation of Masanori?
