  1. I really like the look as well, it is MUCH nicer in person than on the pics! Not sure on the steel wool, but there's no rust... I REALLY hope they didn't use steel wool, but ???? The seller didn't quote a school or smith, only that they thought it was an "edo" blade, well that narrows it down to a few hundred years of possibility. Hence my request for help, pathetic newbie that I am
  2. Hi John, That's a good idea, thanks! Any opinions on the blade overall? Thanks, Mark
  3. Oh, as far as polisher recommendations, I'm in Florida, USA,
  4. Here are pics of the Koshirae... the blue and same appear much brighter than actual, the same is more of a yellowed ivory color and the wrap is more of a night blue.
  5. Kissaki... koshirae pics on the way!!! Blade edge is 17 inches long.
  6. Hi All, Got this wakizashi today, tell me what you think. Any guestimations on age (the seller guesses Edo, which is pretty broad), and any recommendations on a polisher? By the way, taking pics of the hamon is a MAJOR pain; it is like trying to photograph a ghost. Thanks! Mark
  7. Originally in a gunto saya, but now in traditional mounts and the blade is 26 inches
  8. Price is in the 2k range...
  9. more high res...

  11. Okay, Here are some higher resolution pics
  12. Hi All, Here is a blade I have been considering. What do you all think? The current owner believes it is a gendaito, but also mentions it could be shinshinto. Should I buy it or not?
  13. I received the exact same email so I asked for detailed pictures of the sword and it was completely different than the one in the original email. Also the sword that was initially referenced is shown here http://www.japanszwaard.nl/zc6.html and is on consignment for considerably more $$$. Seems like a scam to me... sorry Benjamin Meyer
  14. Thanks for the feedback everyone! I have asked for some more pics and should get them this evening. How concerned do I need to be with those 2 nicks? Thanks, Mark
  15. Hi Guys, Just got some pics, although not great quality pictures. There are 2 very small nicks on the blade and another mei shot Let me know what you think. Thanks, Mark
  16. Wow, so glad you guys are here! Really sucks that there is so much Chinese stuff that is being passed off as authentic. This one was listed as a pass down from a great uncle who got it during the Korean War. Yep, wrong war, but thought maybe it was a mistake. Guess that poor soldier got taken for a ride. Thanks again guys! Mark
  17. Hi Guys, Found this on craigslist.... I am requesting more pics, but here is the mei, can anyone please teel me anything about it? Thanks so much! Mark
  18. Thanks everyone so much for your help... I feel like a stranger in a strange land. I think I will post in the wanted section, I really have my heart set on wanting a beautiful katana, but my budget is capped at $3500. Thanks again, Mark
  19. Hi Everyone, Okay, I am ready to pull the trigger on my first REAL katana. Can you please let me know what you all think of this one and let me know if you think I am missing something? http://www.aoi-art.com/sword/katana/08239.html Thanks so much, Mark
