The motive represents Karigane (Geese) in Flight, which is a typical Akasaka Motive. The patination and color of steel is typical for these authentic historic pieces.   12. The rim design with its 16 elements including the holes besides both right and left Hitsu Ana remind me of snowflakes as a motive. It definitely doubles as geese and snowflake. Nice Tsuba. cheers, Tobi

    my Name is Tobi. I was born in a small town the Southwest of Germany and spent most of my Life in Germany before I found out about enjoying Life in France. I switched from beer to red wine aswell so to say ;). As an Material Science Engineer I feel attracted to any kind of metal mixtures ancient cultures made. I am not afraid of rust - It gives you alot of information :)

     

    Playing the Japanese Sport Kendo for 24 years now helped developing an enthusiasm about Japanese swords, culture and especially way of learning by watching. Two years ago I finally started playing Iaido in parallel to my Kendo.

Over some years I tried several Japanese contacts to read it for me, but I did not succeed so far. Your help ins highly appreciated for me to be able finding similar items.
