  1. I had a look when I was taking photos and didnt see any. I'll go grab it and check
  2. Great to know thanks!
  3. Picked this up today from Ian Chapman at the Birmingham arms fare. It's an unwanted item from a museum donation from an ex collectors estate. Looks to be a brand new tsuka in mint condition. Wrapped and stitched completely in cloth. I haven't and won't be unwrapping it but wanted to share with everyone. Original "packaging" ?

    Odd wakizashi

I didn't give the mei too much credence so didn't even notice it was on the wrong side! I will most likely leave it all as is as I don't think I'd spend any money on it. Something about the blade though brings me back to look at it though. I think it's the dual effect of the hamon. I can't tell if it's interesting due to feeling off though!

    Odd wakizashi

Hi all. I have a blade that I got as a gift from someone who thought of me. It came in 50% junk mounts. When I took it out to look at it and exposed the nakago I thought the mei was made using a Dremel and looked really crudely done, but now I'm not so sure, I keep having a 2nd look. Is that date even complete? The hamon looks interesting but I swear I can see a second hamon underneath it. There seems to be a lot of activity in the metal too.

    Genuine tsuba?

It's hard to tell if the gold colours are two separate colours or the gold is worn.
  7. The tinyest star stamp I've ever seen

    Genuine tsuba?

I've tried to identify casting pits or seams. I was checking to see if the copper had been painted on but thought I'd ask here as I'll never be sure on my uneducated answer to my own question if I don't.

    Genuine tsuba?

I must plead my ignorance to tsuba but I have one that to my untrained eye looks attractive. just wondering if it is genuine?
  10. 8th month of the 19th year of showa
  11. A touch of staining around the end of the blade. The hamon is bright and clear. No damage I can see. A few scratches
  12. Typical type 3 fittings. Heavy Metal saya with dust guard throat.
  13. Well I'll move onto the next one for now but still revisit anything anyone wants too see or know about this one
  14. I will start my own thread about this as things progress. I posted my appeal letter today so will get a reply within 15 days now. When I get an update I'll make a thread and can go through the process. Maybe there are some things I did wrong that I don't know about or maybe they're over zealous but I shall find out and it will hopefully be of benefit to the community.
  15. If people want I can take measurements. Sori etc.
  16. Almost no curve to this
  17. The blade is quite scratched up so photos are hard but looks like choji now
  18. Heavy pitting on the blade. Hard to photo the hamon. Struggling but looks like a horsetooth hamon.
  19. Interesting. The other side seems to have a different menuki.
  20. Ishizuki is gone Looks to have been rewrapped at some point but the wrap looks to have age. Nice release button. The sarute is non decorative. There's a small hole on the kabutogane. From a missing Mon?
  21. Yes it was quite shocking, didn't expect the police to turn up at my door. Thought if there was some kind of issue with the import it could be dealt with via telephone or email or something. Its a waste of everyone's time to go to the trouble of doing this as I'm clearly in the right and have obeyed the law. I just hope the blades aren't destroyed as I bought them from Kraft specifically to preserve them as they hadn't been cared for.
  22. Which of these are we interested in first.
