Any clue what these are portraying? Been looking for a plain design for a Tsuka and got these. I originally thought some kind of leaves, but I don't think so. Any ideas? -Logan-

Yes, I was doing a bit of research on this and it does seem to be an "attempt" at Seiryuken Eiju. Not nearly as nice as the originals I see.

Photos attached.

Please help on translation on this Tsuba. Only my second signed Tsuba. Not in best of shape though. Thanks in advance! -Logan-

Just throwing in my 2Cents, why not Beeswax? I use it on pretty much everything, wood furniture (mixed with oil) and on metal.

Once again I very much appreciate the replies. I already purchased the blade. I had a strong feeling the blade was gimei. I was more curious about the age. I thought being Gimei it would be a much later timeframe. It's definitely not an "Art" sword but I like the fact that these were made for one purpose in mind.

Thanks for the replies. Just going off what I see, it appears to be Itame with what also looks like Mokume Hada(hard to make out now) Chu-Suguha hamon I'm guessing. So far I'm just hoping the timeframe is within 1500s. I still don't think it is a true Tadamitsu.

Picked this blade up. It is signed "Osafune Tadamitsu" which I believe to be Gimei. The Mune near the kissaki is poorly lined up with other side as well which I wouldn't expect. Blade is 24-1/8inches Overall 30-7/8 inches Sori is 1"

Thanks Ray. I should've mentioned that I have only seeing them marked as you say as well. Hopefully it will be possible to age it when I post photos of the blade.

Picked this blade up. I believe the bottom two kanji are Tadamitsu. Which leads me to believe this blade is Gimei since all of them seem to be dated. I will post the whole sword in the Nihonto section. Thanks. -Logan-

I am aware Russia was fighting the Japanese. Just find it strange that the guy lives 2600 miles away from any "battlefield" that he could've dug this up at that I am aware of.
-
Anyone else see this? Said he found it metal detecting. Bogus story I'm guessing as I don't see why any Japanese soldiers would be near kineshma, Russia. Also, how do you find that and nothing else. Item number 163647670979

Is this the one for like $3k on eBay?

I was agreeing with what you said. I also don't buy the story on this blade. -

Can't comment on the age, but I point to post #2. If this sword is listed from Japan how did it get back there? 99% of the Japanese soldiers were killed on Peleliu. 200 captured and around 30 hid on the island. I don't know the whole Japanese laws on blades. But I think this would be considered somewhat of a "Treasure" in Japan if it was indeed owned by Kunio Nakagawa -

Unless I am completely wrong I believe the polisher puts these there. I could've swore the number of lines means a certain school/training or? I always thought it was an indication of a professional polish. I have seen this on swords dating from the 1500s and earlier(of course no clue of how recent the polish was) Of course I am still very much a Novice on this. -

Are you talking about the Polishers "Signature"? -
I saw that right away, let the village idiots bid it up to $400+. Plus I've gotten into a habit of never purchasing anything that they won't remove the handle on.
-
Can't comment on the signature, but I was curious as to why this sword had over 20 bids and a $500 price jump in less than 20hrs.
-
My only comment is it looks like it has a brass habaki that isn't fitted right.
