Matting2

I recently received 2 swords from my parents estate, Covid victims, that were given to them as a gift 45 years ago from an Army vet who brought them back after ww2. one is a mass production sword with no signature. The second one appears very old ? Edo period. looking to identify the smith that created it as well as any information in learning about its history. I have been thrown into a quest and a mystery and am loving learning about it
