Hi everyone
I was hoping to get info on what this sayagaki says- I think it may be Kanzan’s work.
Particularly interested in finding out if it names a generation.
thank you
As with any auction site, that one had a VERY fishy "gassan" in red koshirae that sold for a good chunk. I think the red koshirae seduced people into believing they didn't have to research that particular Gassan's mei, but if they had done so they would have realized the mei on the nakago was nothing like other examples of that Gassan's work...
Be careful everyone
Upload the video to youtube and put the link in here. Would very much like to see it!
Also please let us know how well Unique Japan handles your shinsa job!
TY
Good catch, Chishiki. I would hope admin would follow up and be interested who is attempting this rather than just tell you to read posts made FOUR years ago...
It seems there used to be a group in the city. Is anyone planning on starting some meetings or (gasp!) a show even?
I'm jealous of the San Francisco people---
Thank you so much for the detailed response and links! Much appreciated. Just by working with the kanji in different translation services and asking a few friends.
次兵 - tsugi-hei could literally mean "second soldier" couldn't it?
Current hypothesis:
九州肥後同田貫 (Dotanuki signature)
次兵衛丞 (dedication/ who it's for: "second guard in the *insert translated rank here*'s guards"
丞 = prime minister in Chinese, apparently, and or maybe deputy, whatever that might mean.
