  10. -Nanbokucho period 1336-1392AD -NBTHK 2009 Tokubetsu Hozon states the period (jidai) as Nanbokucho -Classical Nanbokucho sugata -Big 78CM nagasa (30.7") -Beefy 3.53CM Motohaba width from the edge (ha) to the spine (mune) -6.6MM Motogasane -Iori mune -Suguha hotsure hamon with koashi -O-Kissaki with kaeri "turn backs" -Full hamon and boshi -Two piece Gold-foil habaki -Ko-itame/Mokume hada -Well-executed futasuji-bi on both sides -Superbly crafted shirasaya with horn inserts This is a true war sword from the 1300s, with an impeccable shirasaya and a well-crafted habaki. The sugata (shape) is the main draw, with very interesting ko-ashi to study in the hamon, and a fearsome O-Kissaki to admire. I will include pictures to compare its beefy motohaba next to other swords for perspective. It has a very wide blade as to be expected from this time period. The Hokke school was founded by Sukekuni Kokubunji, a Nichiren monk whose father is believed to have been a Bizen Ichimonji smith. They are from Bingo province. $ 8750 + shipping in USA (can ship internationally as well) @nynihonto on IG PS - please click on photos to see in full resolution

  13. The problem was that a standard iPhone takes photos that are too high quality to post more than one of at a time-- so I had to edit their size manually to fit the site's requirements.
