  1. I picked up several swords this week. I really like this one. It has condition issues but I really like the look of it as it is and the the pattern of the hamon and the tree bark tsuba. I'm going to have to add pictures one at a time and I will add some of it dismantled later on.
  2. Thank you Ray!
  3. Thank you. I was just getting ready to post a picture of the whole tanto. I believe it was brought back during occupation by a vet stationed around tokyo. Wouldn't surprise me if it turned out to be a tourist piece but it looks well made. At least to me haha.
  4. I tried but I didn't know that it says. Appreciate any help.
  5. I've been fighting rust most of my life, always living around salt water means oxidation is just a part of life. Desiccant packs and airtight containers are how I deal with it for most things.
  6. Thank you for the offer but I want to keep it. The only other wakizashi I have is basically junk. As near as I can tell that one is made from a broken full length sword.
  7. Thank you everyone for your help, I really do appreciate it. It was driving me crazy not knowing what it said. I lightly cleaned it before I took the pictures but I didn't want to get anymore aggressive then I did. I know I could remove more of the thick scale rust with a pick. Should I leave it as it is or try to remove the thicker rust to see the rest of the writing?
  8. Thank you, I know very little myself especially about pre WW2. This one seemed strange to me because it was so curved. I actually didn't know it was signed until the day after I bought it. The handle was very hard to remove as it had rusted into the wood.
  9. I've been trying to find out more information about this wakizashi. I am hoping someone here can read it. I know it's difficult, I tried to do a rubbing and also write it out but couldn't get it. Thank you for any help.
