WW2 NLF type 44 sword by Nagamitsu
Swords replied to Swords's topic in Auctions and Online Sales or Sellers
Thanks for the heads up Conway I did see his sword just didn’t like the blade John what zero feed back are you talking about ? Steve -
I’m looking a ww2 NLF type 44 sword by Nagamitsu price range 2500-3000 depending on condition steve
-
You helped me make up my mind I think i will wait for nice one with painted scabbard and better hamon It seems the ones I want are too pricey I have to think about resale Thanks to all Steve
-
Is that a bad thing ? Is it still worth the money as it sits now with wood scabbard and one release button The the kanji has 4 characters but it seems there’s so many variations I’m still sitting on the fence with this one Steve
-
Here more pictures of the mounts and blade the hamon looks weak but no other issues I was offered 2000 but wood scabbard and weak hamon keeps me from buying although the price seems fair steve
-
I probably shouldn’t buy from Japan but it seems to have alot of swords for good prices Also many positions I never bought from Japan before but this one struck my interest its NBTHK certificate with the emperor seal Being a short sword reduces price What I really wanted is a NLF type 44 but it’s hard to find one by Nagamitsu in good condition and doesn’t break the bank Dose anyone know about the dealer? dose he sell decent swords and trust worthy? Steve

Good information guys so if the bizen is added chances are it was signed by him not a student and maybe it’s a better quality sword maybe 🤔 -
Good not have said it better! Now if I could sell it The polish alone cost more than the sword I know I can’t get what I have into it but for this price I am pretty much giving my sword for free
-
I need money so my sword is 2400 if anybody wants it Steve
-
It’s gendaito than again it depends on the smith and conditions of blade thanks for your help Steve
-
Interesting John If paint was stripped will that decrease value ?
-
I’m probably wrong about the type NLF but im am using the term for my question I am looking at 3 NLF swords but this scabbard is wood I’m guessing because it was a later 1944 there was a material shortage So does this hurt the value because it’s wood not metal? I’m surprised it didn’t have a leather cover but maybe it once did and was destroyed over time steve
-
I see some nco swords and some cavalry I wish I could get individual pictures with information and prices There may be some good ones
-
I need cash so I decided to lower price to 2500 if anyones interested plus 85.00 shipping and insurance I added additional pictures Steve
-
Thanks to all It is what it is but still a nice sword and amazing hamon by Woody
-
Thanks for the advice and information Because this isn’t your typical arsenal it’s hard to categorize it Thanks for your help Steve
-
Thanks George I agree not traditional made with water rather oil quench however You can see the grain where it was folded I I believe the polisher would know this since it’s his profession and is well informed He polished many swords including mine! I don’t want to keep beating a dead horse with this sword but It’s not your typical arsenal sword Oil quench= Folded = quality blade Nothing more I can add It disturbs me having put this in the sell category and get others who derail my attempts to sell with wrong information Steve
-
If you read the comments is not just an oily sword arsenal sword ! It was folded in the traditional sense and a quality sword You obviously don’t know what you’re talking about I don’t care if you’re not interested or recouping my money You’re looking in the wrong place I think you should Buy on EBay
-
I didn’t want to bring the polisher into the comments but I wanted to prove a point I believe the polisher would know more than anyone about this sword! I know this thread has been going on for quite awhile but since I’m selling it, I want to have all the facts I also wanted to thank everyone who participated I probably shouldn’t have spent money for polish but because hamon is quite extraordinary i am glad I did If anyone needs additional pictures let me know Steve
-
I’m taking a huge loss but I’m gonna ask 2600 plus 100.00 shipping priority insurance Steve
-
Hi lonely planet I contacted Woody Hall who polished my sword and I wanted give his comment about my Taniguchi sword to anyone who else Steve
