I know this hat probably shouldn’t be in the Forum Who would know others that are knowledgeable about these hats It’s dated 1938 I was told sometimes officers put stars over their chinstrap buttons to dress it up
-
Thanks for the translation UWE Jean A pm from who?
-
If anyone can translate the kaji it would be appreciated Also about the hat The strap has stars rather than buttons which i thought was interesting 🤔 Steve

Thanks for all opinions I believe the hot stamp represents non traditional made even though it’s claim to be traditional To me the hamon looks to have dark lines which signify it being oil quench Don’t care for the mounts but at least it looks someone polished it at some point -
Sorry I already sold it but you never know if the seller might return it because he was conflicted but I will let you know if he changes his mind Steve

I found this info The Jumyo (寿命) school has its origins from Yamato (Nara prefecture) and moved to Mino province (Gifu prefecture) in the Kamakura period (1185-1333). The tradition continued for centuries, right up until the end of the Edo period in 1868. Their unique name, Jumyo, means life span or longevity.

I see what you mean I may only need a Finnish polish that would save more money But I believe it’s a rare sword and is worth it to me I didn’t mean to bring this up where everyone will see my discussion Now I bet i get a lot of criticism I already got 2 down votes when I asked what you spent on your sword Steve

Thats a good price ! I originally paid 2380 for mine Than returned it and bought it back for 2000 after I new woody could polish it It’s probably going to cost maybe 2000 to get it polished So I’m guessing in the 4000 range Now I’m thinking was it all worth it ? Did you put it back in the original scabbard after polish or had a new one made? Steve
