    Scary Tsuba

It's on auction with an estimation between 1.5k - 3k.. And yes being upside-down makes it unique and original.(just joking )

    Scary Tsuba

Here is a Tsuba I would never own. (I'm serious) I much prefer a dragon to a snake..
  5. Hi fellas, Can you please take a look at the shinogi ji and tell me if you know how this veins would form? due to age? (it's an old blade)
  6. Description of the second pic: Ohatsu (お初), faithful servant of the young court lady Onoe (尾上), cleans her sword with the zori (草履) sandal with which lady Iwafuji (岩藤) had beaten her beloved mistress. Onoe, in fact, unable to bear the humiliation suffered, took her own life and when Ohatsu learned of the suicide, through the letter testament that here she holds between the lips, decided to avenge the young lady by killing the despotic Iwafuji. Following the revenge, Ohatsu was rewarded for her loyalty and received as a reward the name and position at court of her mistress Onoe.
  7. Maybe we are being too picky about it
  8. It's Chinese fake. sorry
  9. Indeed spectacular pictures..Damascus steel is,I believe, the only steel category you can choose on Catawiki auction site(they don't have Tamahagane option) I would love to see this one in my hands too but unfortunately I can't
  10. What are you talking about?

    Gunbai tsuka

Hey guys, I've never seen this before so wanted to share it. A gunbai with tsukamaki, belonged to Hosokawa family.
  13. Hi guys, I had this tsuba with 3-6-4 kiri mon on my koshirae for a while but suddenly got curious about its age..I tried my best to take macro pictures of it. Thanks a lot!

  14. Dear Ray, can you please upload these to youtube as well? I don't use Instagram and I like to go back and forward And thank you for these videos! edit: Oh they are already on youtube!! Sorry about that.
  15. @Matsunoki@DoTanuki yokai Dear Colin, I believe you do try to pick a fight! (Just joking, I don't know why but as you said so many fights going on these days! Anyways, I didn't mean the quality about Kirimon itself, they are good. But the way they have applied..they are not on a straight line. Some how they seem like rotated a bit. So what I meant was the placement of the mons, not the quality(sometimes my english can be tricky) And of course the shakudo work is outstanding...But don't you think there is a chance that these mons were added later to gift a family sword to imperial family or Toyotomi's or something? Nevertheless, it's an amazing piece of art.. Here are some closer pictures of the other one.
  16. Dear Jean, It probably wouldn't stop corrosion but would give a nice black look for a day or two. I can try antler pieces but I'm afraid I don't have any so I would very much appreciate some.
  17. Hey guys, Quick question. I'm not sure if the overlay material is sahari or silver but there is little rust going on here. Do you think some choji would hurt the 3-6-4 kiri mon? (want to remind you it's not inlay) Thank you!! @Spartancrest I already know your answer but I'm not gonna do it no spitting
  18. Amazing workmanship. But I think Kiri mon's were added later. They are just not in the same quality with the rest if you know what I mean. It should have look something like this.
  19. Derek, I have to agree with Rivkin. This is probably a Yamato blade. Take good care of it. Buy nice flowers to that old lady(and maybe some jewellery)..
  20. Wow great find Derek. You are very lucky! As everyone said, you have to show the nakago(tang). Use a soft light so we can also see the color of the rust. I have a feeling this might be an old blade. I want to say early to mid Muromachi but being ubu, it doesn’t make sense. Confusing blade. More pictures please!!
  21. I don’t think this blade was made by “the” Norimitsu. Hada doesn’t look right, also the quality. Is it papered? If not consider its gimei. Did you buy this?
  22. There is no value in wanting something looted(stolen) from a dead body. I'm sure seller is an idiot who thought adding a line like this make it worth more. But as I said, there is no way the story is true so bidding for it wouldn't hurt.
  23. I can assure you that a soldier wasn't "wearing" this sword. Also the sageo(cord) is tied in samurai fashion. Nice fittings, late edo tsuba. Koshirae seems broken. But I would gamble this if I was living in the states..

    Tanto, 14th century

Agreed, but there would be roughly 3k euros difference between gimei and real Unjū
