  1. Steve, Someone who has 1000 times more experience and knowledge than you sharing his opinion and this is your answer? If your answer was " Thank you for your reply but what make you think it's a Showato?" then you would be able to learn something! But you don't want to learn anything..You are simply narrow-minded!.. Don't get me wrong, I really don't care about your questions as they are waste of time to answer but I won't stay silent when you disrespect others...
  2. Don't take him serious please..
  3. I don't think no one here would buy it but yeah sure keep it
  4. Yup we can tell a lot from this photo. Great!
  5. Great find Parry..let me read that..Masaaaa mune....yup...not gimei... Great looking sword by the way, it even have two m&m holes. And if you can only share the pictures of rest of the blade we can all officially announce that you have the real deal.
  6. Ok I think I solved it. Not %100 certain but this has something to do with Banzuke. (ranking list) East and West division...I circled Tadamasa with red on attached photo. Mei on the left also points "West" Markus has a great article about this..and probably the only English article about the subject. https://markussesko.com/2016/10/02/banzuke-番付/
  7. Far left 住尾州城西 ? @SteveM can you please confirm
  8. Yes Brian please don’t be thick headed and abusive Give the kid troll a chance to prove himself.. @parry more You don't share your name and location for your protection?? Protection from who if I may ask You think Japanese secret agents and FBI would breach your door? Or one of us perhaps Like Grev said, always start with some pictures!
  9. 豊後住藤原実行 : Bungo ju Fujiwara Saneyuki
  10. This one deserves a good polish 👍
  11. Second theory, maybe this was modified to use on an Ainu blade? Their nakago are pretty thin.
  12. It’s locked but seriously, owner probably didn’t want this to be on another katana so hammered it down from the middle instead of top and bottom..no way there was a katana that thin.as you said it would break instantly..strange for sure.
  13. Thank you very much for the detailed answer Steve. I can't help but wonder the history of it...On the sayagaki it says the sword was referenced in "Higo toso Roku" but nearly impossible to find it(at least here in the Netherlands) so I couldn't check if it was true or not..(I believe I sent you the sayagaki translation last month or so) Anyways I'll probably won't be able to trace it back so nothing else to do but enjoy it Thank you again!!
  14. Well early Meiji swords still counts as shinshinto so..
  15. Hey Nick..Very hard to guess in this polish and with cleaned nakago but I would say(guess) late Shinshinto in Kanbun style...
  16. Thank you, again, Steve! That is weird....someone was really sure this sword was Kanenage..So it was in a Nobunaga koshirae..attributed to Kanenaga..registered as Kanenaga..Papered as Shikkake after 60 years(was Shinsa right?)..I wonder for how long previous owners thought this was a Kanenaga.. Who knows..
  17. I'm sorry but I had to do it. - and very nice blade!
  18. Thank you Steve. Sword is mid-to-high so like you've said it might be a good idea to send it. I'll look into it thanks a lot.
  19. Well I've been wondering what it can be but I think it gibberish. Kunishige was in Hirado which was a port city open for Dutch and Chinese...so he was probably influenced from them hence most of his work have either latin letters or dragons..or both...So he probably found a Latin book and tried to copy the letters..Attaching a pic of tsuba which might be a set.
  20. Hi, This is a difficult situation..I'm attaching two pictures of two Hirado Kunishige mei...second one has a different writing style of 平 . I've been trying to find another one with same style but couldn't. Usually I would say Gimei but workmanship is so good..maybe a student? What might be the situation here?
  21. Would you be so kind to help me translate this.. ..Thanks a lot!
  22. Second Kanji you mean 与? It is Yo.
  23. Can we see the whole blade in one shot so we can see its shape..And also a close shot of kissaki(tip. of the sword)
