Hello I’m inquiring about the Japanese term for the hamon with such utsuri and the schools that introduced and made it. thank you j

I respect you chiming in - Indeed you’re right no smell no evidence of tempering (artificial aging) black rust as nambokucho and the latter and then the 2nd one - that’s Kanemoto? Or Kanemitsu :D or earlier … no clue.. thank you for the input nonetheless ! apparently nbthk remains the last resort for dreamers as myself lol dont mind the irony yv

.. and substantial machi okuri… yv

Im not criticizing the shinsa team but there’s absolutely no way this is a late showa blade especially after looking at other examples of the smith. Not even close… and that is Kanemoto? I’m just sooo confused and definitely disappointed I accept that shinsa is only an opinion but that opinion shouldn’t be centuries apart.. yv

None of the attributions fit the blades if that’s Showa rust on the nakago then I’m definitely in the wrong sport… yv

Thank you @Nobody yv

Hello members id appreciate if you’d be so nice and willing to give me translation of the papers of the 2 blades below. Thank you in advance yv

That’s why I love Muramasa no pun intended j

I do see a lot of resemblance of Kinju in that hada. That’s just a total rookie statement I love the quality and I wouldn’t remove the signature unless shinsa is mandatory for you j

Crap, I won! How did I do? Kake

He is a great seller it’s a score j -
I may have to agree with the above ive purchased many from Japan without papers (after thorough research of prior kantei points) that passed the nthk Kanteisho the Chicago shinsa also there’s always been another angle where the owners know what they have and their pride and knowledge eliminates the necessity of acquiring papers. They own them for a reason and for the long run. Sometimes however some families have the need to sell. That’s how some unpapered Shoshin blades make it to be sold to me this one appears very well made blade with very active hamon j

Im sorry it goes the wrong way sometimes j

Indeed i think they have a term for one that has occurred during the lifetime of the blade and it’s an honorable sign that even it is a flaw it never turned to catastrophe (in a sense). feel free to correct me j

Some Shinto utsushi (Tadayoshi the 1st and others) knew how to incorporate that ‘effect’ into their steel appearance. definitely not an expert but I think some of the Shinto masters were so aware that they knew how to make that appear. Not sure about Shibata Ka but I wouldn’t be surprised just an angle j -
Authentic or copy ? Yoshimichi

Post the link from ebay i think it is the daimyo54 something store the son of another popular eBay seller the blade characteristics could potentially answer your question. Seems okay at a first glance for the Kyoto branch y -
