  1. I got the info from peter to contact eric higham and he told me he could do a simple shirasaya for a katana for around 70 english pounds. And jesper had a contact in denmark he will ask also. So thanks everyone for the help.
  2. pcfarrar That sounds really good, do you have en links to any websites who does that?
  3. As a shirasaya cost more than the sword it self i dont know if i can afford it atleast not in a near future. So i wonder what is the best way to keep it protected. i will get a saya but i dont know how it fits.
  4. No the sword hasnt arrived yet, but still i'm only mailing the guys with some simple questions and i have wrote in the mail that i may be buying this sword. Damn Swedish post office i'm almost 100% sure the sword is at my post office but i cant get it cause they haven't sent me a note that says it has arrived. So it looks that i will have it monday or tuesday.
  5. Thanks for the information Jean i will mail him now.
  6. I found Zenons email so i have sent him a message. Thanks for the tip
  7. I have searched google but havent found any europeans making shirasayas. I have also asked jesper here on the forum if he knows anyone but i dont think he has been online, cause i havent gotten an answer. I also posted on a swedish nihonto forum but that forum seems dead. So it really looks like US is my best shot but i will continue my search. Does Mike V have a website. I have also mailed Moses Beccera asking him for prices and so on, anyone who have delt with him?
  8. OK lets hope anyone has it cached or the site is down for maintainance or so.
  9. Does any of you guys have a link to a site with a reliable shirasaya maker? It could be informative to look at.
  10. Hopefully ill have the sword tomorrow. One thing i dont like with this seller tho is that he doesnt respond to my emails about the shirasaya. And also he just stopped answering my emails once before when i was asking him for prices on his tsubas. He said he didnt answer cause he didnt have a tsuba in my price range but still he didnt tell me that he just didnt answer. Well atleast he gave me a pretty good price and downpayment so now i hope the sword is as described.
  11. The sworsds on the site seems to be without but he has offerd me some tantos in fittiings, i will ask him about that. Do you think you should be on your watch if no sword has fittings? im off to work now see you all tonight
  12. its from http://www.nihonto.nu i will buy the sword, i have asked the seller also but he isnt the fastest replier. there is also http://www.sharpweaponcenter.com but that site is really really slow people on the forum there doesnt answer your questions that often. But i will try to post there also.
  13. ofc its a joke guys  I will start too look for guys here in sweden who can help me, hopefully someone here in stockholm has a bit of knoweledge.
  14. Hehehe that doesnt sound so hard :D Well i think i will get my mother to try to do an shirasaya, she is an artist and she has done sculptures and som so on so maybe she will give it at try just to see if it works. But when i have the money to buy a shirasaya from someone who really knows what they are doing i will.
  15. One more question. If i was to try and make one from scratch then are there any special wood that is best?
  16. I think he has wrapped the blade in some sort of paper, and its already on the way so i cant stop the shipping. And ofc i (probably) spent my budget now but still i have my responsibility as grey said, so i will do my best to find someone who can help me to make a shirasaya. He had a habaki that maybe would fit so he sent one. I will probably have the sword tomorrow so then we will know how the shipping went. And if the kissaki is damaged i dont have to buy it, casue he shipped the sword so i can have a closer look at it and if i like what i see then i will pay for it.
  17. I will probably buy a new sword in the next coulpe of days, but it doesnt have a shirasaya. I will get a saya that it will have in the shipping to protect it. So my question is whats the easiest way to get a shirasaya for the blade? Can you buy new shirasayas that u can fixa to fit youre blade or do you have to make one from scratch?
  18. He will send me te sword today so i can have a look at it, so i will post pics of it when i have it in my hands.
  19. Thanks for the answer brian. Hehehe as you said i will probably buy a sword soon and this is my maximum limit. The seller is also willing to send me the sword without me paying for it, so if im not satisfied i can send it back for the shipping cost only. One thing tho the sword don have a shirasaya, is it hard to get one for it or make one? The info i got now from the seller is Kissaki: Chu-kissaki Hamon: Gunome Sori almost none but he says that was pretty usual in the kanbun era no major flaws Do yo guys think the date for when its made could be around 1630?
  20. The seller are supposed to be honest. He said he he only had that picture right now but i have asked for more pics and also all the info he has on the sword. And its a katana. Ill give you more info on the blade when ill get it.
  21. Yeah he also told me it was gimei forgot to write that. But exept that what do you think.
  22. I have just got an offer to buy this sword for 1,100 usd. I really like the hamon on it, tho i can se some chips and maybe some rust i dont know yet casue i only got this picture, but can you tell me if it looks tired. Good buy or bad buy what do you think? http://img84.imageshack.us/my.php?image=45963499kf9.jpg
  23. Thanks for the tips, i will continue my search.
  24. OK thanks for the info, now i just have to decide if i will buy it.
