I´m a little confuse about Masatsugus. Please correct me if I´m wrong. Most of the Masatsugu blades I have seen were sign 南都住金房兵衛尉政次　Nanto ju Kanabo Hyoeinojo Masatsugu, including this one. These “Imperial guards” who used this signature had two generations? One in TENMON 1532-1555 and one in KOJI 1555-1586. There is also 3. generation Masatsugu who signed Nanto Kanabo Hyoeinojo Masatsugu 南都金房兵衛尉政次, who worked in EIROKU 1558-1592 and he was Wazamono? Have anyone seen blades with this signature? As I said I´m a little confuse about these Masatsugus, because there is so much discrepancy information…

Hi, Thanks for the replies. This tsuba is still a little "mystery" but I´m glad that you were interested. That was a rational explanation why there is rust - it´s been used.

I have this Mihara ju Masahiro (三原住正廣). It is probably sue-Mihara blade. Most of the smith´s in Mihara were Masa something and there were several Masahiros as well. According my knowledge last Mihara Masahiro worked around 1530. At that time they also exported a grate number of Mihara blades to China (even Chinese did not use these blades). Can anyone tell me something about this blade, is this a sue-Mihara blade and what about this Masahiro, can anyone identify when this Masahiro worked?

Can anyone help me to identify this tsuba? It is signed but unfortunately not easy to see any more. This came with Mihara ju Masahiro (三原住正廣) katana.

Thanks for the answer. This has been in a family for about 60 years. I was once told that the blade is about 350 years old, but unfortunately I was too young at that time to listen more carefully. But the gunome hamon in this Wakizashi is beautiful as well as maru mune. The blades I have seen maru mune is not that common.

Hi, Can anyone help me to indentify this one. According Tokka (in Tokyo) the tsuka is from the 18th century (I had the ito fixed), but I don´t know about the wakizashi. Any information is appreciated.

Hi, Can anyone help me to identify this katana? It says Fujiwara Kanefusa saku, on the other side Showa hinoe nesumi toshi kichijitsu, which means that this was made 1984. The problem is that I dont know is this made by 24th or 25th Fujiwara Kanefusa. 25th Fujiwara kanefusa started to use Kanefusa name in the year 1984. Thank you in advance! BR Teppo K.
