The sword is definitely not high quality. But it certainly isn’t the lowest of low quality. I highly doubt this is a bundle sword. There was obviously some level of care used in forging this blade. The nioguchi is consistent throughout, the hada is consistent as well. No forging flaws present on the blade.

Yes it was. A woman was selling it. The sword came from her husband’s grandfather who served in ww2. She claimed the sword was in climate controlled storage for 50+ years. I knew it was something interesting when it was listed and I didn’t hesitate. I like the swords that come out of peoples closets, attics and basements that have been untouched for decades.

I just took a look and yes it does have the Suya harp logo on the guard. Is this of some significance?

It looks like it’s been through a few polishes but It is still quite thick. The habaki is 1 piece. But the blade is in shirasaya. Purchased in the United States but it is possible it has been to shinsa before. Possibly failed. Looks like it was looked after pretty well.

Hi, I have this tanto signed Yoshimitsu. Just curious on opinion whether it could possibly be of the Tosa Yoshimitsu lineage and also if it appears to be from the Muramachi period.

Thanks Ray, The blade is in good condition as well. It had some kinda film on it that came off with some elbow grease and revealed a well preserved wartime polish. It was a good find.
