  1. Yes, it’s an interestingly constructed blade.
  2. Thanks Conway. That definitely helped point me in the right direction
  3. Hi can anyone please translate what is written on both sides of this blade above the habaki. Thank you.
  4. It looks like it’s been through a few polishes but It is still quite thick. The habaki is 1 piece. But the blade is in shirasaya. Purchased in the United States but it is possible it has been to shinsa before. Possibly failed. Looks like it was looked after pretty well.
  5. Hi, I have this tanto signed Yoshimitsu. Just curious on opinion whether it could possibly be of the Tosa Yoshimitsu lineage and also if it appears to be from the Muramachi period.
  6. Thanks Ray, The blade is in good condition as well. It had some kinda film on it that came off with some elbow grease and revealed a well preserved wartime polish. It was a good find.
  7. Sure Bruce, I only see numbers 261
  8. Awesome thank you
  9. Student of the great Gassan Sadakatsu. That’s some lineage, it looks like a good quality made sword.
  10. Hi All, I believe the translation is Minamoto Sadashige saku kore. But can’t seem to figure out the upper part and also the date. Is there any other information on this smith? Any help is greatly appreciated.

  12. I like them both. If I had the money I’d buy the Kajiyama Yasunori (Yasutoku). Looks like a high quality sword from a top notch Yasukuni Tosho with a very early date. Comes in fantastic polish in new shirasaya also with original gunto koshirae and origami to boot.
  13. The reason this question came about is because I have both swords. One with the Miyaguchi Kunimori signature and the other with the Ikkansai Kunimori signature. While both swords have a good shape, the quality on the Miyaguchi Kunimori signed blade surpasses the Ikkansai by leaps and bounds. I wish there was more information on the differences in signatures. We’re these swords also forged at Okura Tanrenjo?
  14. Hi all, Just looking for some information on a Miyaguchi Kunimori signed Kai gunto. Would this be considered a gendaito? Does it look water quenched?
  15. 38, started collecting 6 years ago. now I have swords on my wall instead of money in my pocket.
  16. Hey Bryce, I like the sword as well. It has a powerful shape, Nice hada and plenty of sunagashi. The yasurime isn’t sloppy. It’s pretty well finished. The painted numbers are a little too faded for me to tell if they correspond with what’s on the mounts. I posted pictures of the kanji on the fittings here in the translation section. I’d have to take a better look at it.
  17. Here’s a few more pictures of the nakago
  18. I have type 98 fittings with kanji on the Tsuka, fuchi, tsuba and sepa. Can someone please help translate. Interested in knowing if it’s a surname or assembly numbers. Thank you.
  19. I can see the similarities in the workmanship. I was thinking the hada was Itame-nagare or Itame mixed with masame. What is your opinion on age? Late shin Shinto?
  20. I have what appears to be a Shin Shinto O-kissaki katana. 28”nagasa 4” kissaki mounted in Suya type 98 gunto koshirae. The sword has some interesting activity in the hamon lots of what I believe to be sunagashi. Can anyone tell me anything else about the sword. Can add more pics if necessary.
  21. Thanks Franco, Although it is a nice sword and we don’t often see works from Awataguchi Kanetsuna It’s probably not financially worth it to have the sword polished. The chip in the kissaki just bothers me.
