Interesting Yasukuni gunto package
lonely panet replied to Gerry's topic in Auctions and Online Sales or Sellers
its abit annoying that the mekugi ana was put through the mei, and the habaki is catching my eye for the wrong reason. iv owned yasukunito but never a imperial gift sword but i would expect something better formed. maybe the original was damaged or lost and new one was made?? -
Im not sure you realise how much this journey will cost you or how long it will take. Head to the DTI and search the dealers

New variation of extended/patented ishizuke?
lonely panet replied to RobCarter3's topic in Military Swords of Japan
its a different shape due to wear and tear, contact/ dragged along the ground etc. the sword, ill leave the hizen guys to comment. and i would discribe this as a early type 98, the type 94's have a more tachi like sori at the tsuba/habaki area to F/G's book, there good but they sometimes get it wrong. im a personal friend of one of the contributors of all the F/G books and does dissagree with some of the things written. Dawsons has surpassed them as the bible of IJ swords and information just my 10 cents worth -
Yagyu. Later gen Pftt face palm. Just seen the above post
