Not derailing, but attempting to educate and help. I am not beating, belittling attacking or discrediting any one or evan the sword or woodys good work. The sword ranking system with IJM swords could look like this and goes. Machine made Non traditional Traditional Inside these ranks are categories, within the categories are values both financial and artistic. They vary apon rarity and demand and quality. Yours is in the middle. Tho it has a high artistic value, its not traditionally made. There for NOT a gendaito.

If you pick up your hurt feeling, and look at my post, my use of slang terminology im sorry. Its simply that its a non traditionally made Japanese sword. I didn't on any level imply it was low quality. Gendai are posted here for less, but you keep reposting the sword with rough photos and expect positive results

Traditionally trained togishi have very little knowledge about non traditional military swords, for very obvious reasons. The reason its not selling is its in a excessively high price bracket for a oily. Look at what others on the forum are priced at. Just because you over capitalised, dont ask others to do the same to recoup your costs

its not just acutions, the interest in Japanese swords and realated items is dropping faster and faster. i have said this for years, it will become like pigeon racing and chicken showing. prices are dropping, new peaple not having the funds to spare and every "flipper" buying crap and trying to sell at a super profit is turing peaple away in droves. its only the crazy that stay to enjoy

Help with info and translation on my newest gunto
lonely panet replied to JohnWB's topic in Military Swords of Japan
sukesada was approx 60 smiths that worked in the Bizen osafune group. witha long range of dating timelines. rarrowing it down will be very very hard. oddly enough it appears to be a kanbun area blade with a meduim kissaki and almost no sori. so many possiblities...... a kanbun sukeda?? after the great flood osafune was wiped out so if a smith rebuilt ans continied to work?? or gimei? or not a bizen sukesada.. more educated peaple can offer more. machi mori probably incorrect saying is the moving up of the hamachi and munemachi to allow a longer nakago, so going from a short bizen style nakago " 1 hand" to 2 hands -

for sale Gendaito for sale Yoshichika 1944
lonely panet replied to Rye's topic in Swords and Edged Weapons
Ok, i got to help correct you. Tho is sword is signed, it is NOT by Mori Yoshichika. You need to relook at one of the many Seki yoshichika smiths as the quality of the mei, shape of the nakago and the yasurime approach that of a low level smith not a gendai smith of note. Lets not go into the mismatched seppa, modern tsuba or loose fitting tsuka -

well with alllllll the conversation and imput you received with your last sale attempt, you didnt seem to take any onboard. its nice, dont get me wrong but still top end for a oil quenched sword. it was posted for along time and didnt sell, so why not change your approach. either better photos, different pricing etc. but you should change your approach because when things cant sell, they attract a unfair stigma and no bodys wants that for anyone. sit down, re approach the sword, set up a good back ground and new photos. make a sales page so attractive it begs IJA guys to want it, dont just rehash old pics and expect a different outcome from the same failed attempts from the past. for example, same stome different lighting. one looks ok, the other looks so good you must buy it

Its not a replica. Its not evan close. Its just utter china crap

To his defence its a tricky suriage if your not experienced. Neither side appears to been ground down and both Hi are symmetrical. Its just the nakago mune that is the show. And honestly i wouldnt be surprised if it was a sumitoshi

Opinions on this Kyu Gunto Please?
lonely panet replied to Brian's topic in Military Swords of Japan
dont evan bother at any prrice. for 1 ist beyond economic repair, 2 the tsuka has 3 holes, so peaple have been drilling to extra mekugi " bad sign of a miss match. the bent D guard will have concerns tha could following onto the backstrap. its a solf alloy so stretching/ deforming could occur and as a hole its is relic condion. heaps better to choose from in Japan -
well this turned to some weird shitfight quickly. i thought it was good to see a odd ball from a master smith. lets us all know theres always a exception to the rule
