  1. Mito?
  2. Just need a double check on a very long Jitte I just brought home. Suifu Ju Suketomo 水府住助共
  3. Your guess appears correct to me. 備州住友久 https://nihontoclub.com/view/smiths/list?id_op=%3D&id=&name_op=starts&name=tomohisa&kanji_op=%3D&kanji=&province=All&start_era=All&school_nid=All
  4. I have searched the forums, and found only a little about this subject. NBTHK seems to be the most respected shinsa, followed closely by the NTHK-NPO. I just recently stumbled across a katana for sale with a JASMK paper. This sparked my interest, and I checked their website out. https://jasmk.jp/index.htm It seems geared towards Japanese collectors, as I did not see any avenue for foreign submittals. To be clear, I'm not advocating anything, just curious as to everyone's thoughts on this. Dan in South Carolina
  5. You guys are the best. Thank you!
  6. That is one of the big questions I also had. Did you have to pay import fees "Surfson" Robert?
  7. This is a set price item, not an auction item. Thank you for your reply!
  8. So where are you located? There are different chapters of the JSSUS (Japanese Sword Society United States) around the country. You can find some very knowledgeable people at their meetings. As mentioned above, shinsa is where you will find the experts of the trade. All the best, Dan
  9. I am wanting purchase a wakizashi from Aoi Art. Besides the price of the item, what other fees are associated with bringing the item to the US? It appears they charge additional for the shipping. Not sure what the best method of payment will be to avoid or get the lowest fees possible. Use a credit card and pay the balance immediately? Paypal and bank wire will definitely be a fee. Thanks all!
  10. What is your location? I don't see it listed in your signature.
  11. Auction starts at 180,000 yen. I expect it will obtain more bids once it nears auction end date.
  12. Signature is a match to Masayuki.
  13. He has some good nihinto, every once in a while.
  14. That is my thought, exactly.
  15. Any truth to this? https://www.ebay.com/itm/Rare-Katana-made-for-Emperor-Hirohito-by-master-sword-smith-Akihide-NBTHK-paper/254594531672?hash=item3b47044158:g:HiIAAOSwiS9fVX~e
  16. Your question may have some merit as to why katana, in warring times, may have not had any accessories and the tanto would hold those.
  17. Really my question is, was there any rhyme or reason that some have both, some have one, some have none...weather it be tanto, wakizashi katana or tachi.
  18. Thanks for your reply. I was starting to think I was the odd smelly kid that no one wants to talk to.
  19. Wow....never thought this would be a yield so many different thoughts. With no info available on this smith, I may just have to pass on it.
  20. Some characters are really close, and others...not so much.
  21. Would this be considered "Tachi Mei"? Overall sugata looks like an old tachi. I would guess it is an EDO throwback.
  22. 金 宏 I can see the pot lid, now that you pointed it out. I am still unable to find a smith who signed with this signature in the swordsmith index.
  23. Pot lid radical....I love it!
  24. So 金弘 What would the rest Translate to? I am still not finding any info on this smith.
