San Francisco sword show
Seth replied to Brian's topic in Sword Shows, Events, Community News and Legislation Issues
I think I have the wife talked into it so it looks likely for me. Used the birthday card. -
Big fan of this change!

What part of Georgia are you in?

Great Instructional Video for Sword Polishing
Seth replied to DTM72's topic in General Nihonto Related Discussion
Kind of scary if you think about it. Not far off for a monkey to figure out that sharp metal can be used as a weapon. One figures it out and he shows all his friends. Get shanked by a monkey..... -
400 year old katana needs restoration

Welcome to the forum Sean. Would you care sharing pictures of it? That will help the other members guide you. -
What's it worth before I butcher it?
Seth replied to Caleb Baxter's topic in Military Swords of Japan
Will be worth considerably less after a "redneck restoration". You will have nothing to gain from hitting it with sandpaper. Is it in this same condition since you posted it 8 months ago? Definitely get some oil on it. -
FWIW they are not anonymous.... This thread has been an amusing read while sitting at work bored. Ferry, what are you trying to accomplish exactly? If you refuse to accept advice/opinions of enthusiasts who are just giving you their opinions what will you do if a higher authority does the same and you don't like the answer? At the end of the day, you won't know until you send it off.

It is a poor replica, my friend. The same looks to be rubber, wire brush hamon, and then that nakago.

Converted for everyone. An overall picture of the nakago would be more helpful than breaking them up like this.

Congratulations Noah, enjoy.

I might have hit the old fashioned's a little hard tonight but it looks like a large portion of the nakago has been snapped off (Not sure why it would have been cut down)? Is this not too far gone? Would it make any logical sense to restore?

Gaikotsu Katana? Help, info needed
Seth replied to Bridges's topic in General Nihonto Related Discussion
Also, it is listed as oil-quenched in the description. -
This was my knee-jerk reaction as well when I saw this pop up haha. Can you imagine? Great videos Ray! I know most people prefer short videos but I would have no issue listening to you teach on longer videos. Looking forward to the next one!

Well, you can go ahead and rub it in with your old friend as it happened over the weekend. Ohio had it in the bag and their kicker missed a field goal.... I was sure we had lost but here we are. So true, 1/16 of an inch of snow and spotty ice and its game over. 10" of rain and they lower speeds from 90 to 80.

Seems like it, I was impressed with how it turned out and the price was great. It helps me slightly as far as not going back and forth from my safe with the blade. Yes, definitely the framer does a lot of sports memorabilia and shadow box type stuff as well. I suspect if Georgia (Sorry Ohio) wins the national championship again this year, they will be slammed for a few months based on last year. I made another purchase last night after many months of watching that I am hoping to get before we meet up to share with you. I don't want to ruin the surprise so ill leave it at that. Ya, I think in total I got maybe 4 hours of sleep, so I just ended up going in to work. The drive was fairly exciting nothing like performance tires on a sports car in a flood! GA weather never surprises me at this point freeze one day and melt the next.

Awesome videos Ray keep it up, this is exactly what I needed in my life!

This posting has been around for a while, haha, I always get a good chuckle when I see it. -
Was browsing youtube when your video popped up. Great video Ray I enjoy content like this and what a beautiful blade!

Need an answer I can't get anywhere but here.
Seth replied to Leonard's topic in General Nihonto Related Discussion
I agree with everything said above, I have bought two blades from them and have had no issues whatsoever. Neither had additional shipping charges. It took a month and a half roughly for both blades but they communicated with me and let me know what was going on throughout the process. I will absolutely do business with them again. I have my eyes on a wakizashi as we speak. -
Old hand made blade with SOME flaws, that was my favorite part. More money than sense? They think the damage is from a battle during the war? Who knows, but at the same time I just spent $10 on a chicken sandwich from a fast-food joint so I won't judge.

@Bridges Noah, what eBay seller are you frequenting with these if you don't mind me asking. It seems like they are all coming from the same place?

I will donate to the cause. $100
