To be honest Don, i'm not even sure this tanto is authentic. i could be mislead by poor pictures, but the hamon looks completely fake and the koshirae looks pieced together hap-hazard. to me this is a tourist souvenir and i would stay away.

Heres some iron koshirae for a tachi of mine, mounted as an uchigatana. All matching authentic fittings, im definitely a huge fan of iron fittings. I did however add the kogai as it was missing from the set. The photos make the iron look alot more "brown" than it really is, but i'm sure it could do with some cleaning.

Funnily enough i collect swords from the bingo province, and have been watching this tanto for a while. it looks text book sue mihara, but is very overpriced. Also i find the koshirae jarring. I initially purchased this sword from Grey Doffin, and have enjoyed owning it over the past few years, but i'm now narrowing down the styles of nihonto that i collect so i must move this on. I've had this for sale on ebay for a while, and thought id share it with the group. i believe this sword will make a fantastic beginner sword, or even make a nice addition to a collection. Please have a look at the photos, the sword includes shirasaya and two older nbthk certificates, kicho and tokubetsu kicho. Both papers have the same owners name, which is also hot stamped onto the shirasaya. there are also some areas of ware on the blade which i've taken photos of. Sword is located Sydney Australia. These are all chinese made, or generic or low quality.

The seller sofecoke (who youve shared photos of there fittings) doesn’t actually list their items as genuine or antique. These fittings have always been used for higher quality shinken, or iaito both in Japan and in the west. Ive personally seen a few Japanese sellers selling modern shinsakuto with these exact fittings. They serve their purpose. I’m looking for high quality silver (or silver looking) seppa for a sword of mine, where can I actually find quality fittings that i require other than sofecoke? Fred lohman dosnt reply to me, and i cant find anyone else that sells quality, attractive seppa.
