  1. Thanks Brian! You are right, I should have been clearer in a way by saying "consider offers until X day".
  2. I wrote "1500€ or best offer" down and people started sending me a ton of offers via private messages. I must confess that I didn't realize that it may have been "immoral" to accept the highest offers people would send me. As I said it was not intentional in any way to start some kind of "private auction" Item is now SOLD!
  3. Thanks for so many PMs guys! Sorry I didn't answer many of them until now but I have to look through aaaalot and sort them by highest/lowest bidder. I will contact all of you once I have done so.
  4. True, it's a pretty blade and the koshirae are nice too.
  5. Ok! Selling for a person I know, he originally got the sword in Japan. It's a tachi in koshirae signed 備前長船住幸光 Bizen Osafune ju Yukimitsu, and dated August Oei 2. NOT papered. It has horimono carvings on both sides of the blade Nagasa around 72cm Moto-haba: 3 cm Saki-haba: 18.5 mm Moto-gasane: 6.5 mm Saki-gasane: 4 mm Sori: 2,2 cm weight of the blade is around 700g I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. Honestly: The polish is in BAD condition, it seems like an amateur tried his best and even then didn't finish the job properly but stopped midway through thinking: "Ah whatever...." The horimono carvings you should judge for yourself. The tachi koshirae are pretty nice, the laquer is intact nothing is loose and wobbely. The signature... I'm not sure about it actually... But nevertheless: Item is SOLD! Edit regarding the sale: I'm sorry if anyone got offended by the way the sale went through I was absolutely overwhelmed by all the messages (and being at work at the same time) and also had to keep in mind customs/shipping and so on which in the end my friend has to pay for, not me. It was absolutely not my intention to start any auction whatsoever.
  6. Can anyone help with the translation? Thanks!
  7. Another picture of the beautiful blade.
  8. I absolutely agree on everything said. If you buy from ebay try doing so from trusted sellers. There are a few. Or better: Try finding a blade from people in the selling area of this forum.
  9. Unfortunately rather hard to make out. Anyone able to read this mei? Shintō Wakizashi.
  10. disassembled
  11. Thanks! Yes... there is lots of useful information on the website! What's intriguing is that the koshirae seems to be overly large for the tanto. The tsuka was shimmed, The saya is around 10cm longer than it should be for a tanto that length. Very interesting...
  12. Thanks Alex! Wow! Thank you... definately a lot to research there. I was actually thinking about ordering a nice shirasaya for it. The blade is beautiful.
  13. I actually got a tanto in pretty decent polish from someone I know. Due to personal circumstances he decided to give it to me. It's mumei, the koshirae are in "ok" condition. blade length: 27cm moto-kasane: 7mm I've attached a few pictures from the blade itself and will also add some of the koshirae it came with.
  14. Thank you all! Stefan
  15. Could someone help me with translating this paper? Thanks alot!
  16. thanks guys!
  17. Sure thing! It was for a VERY good price. It has it's fair share of flaws but again I stumbled upon it and decided to buy it
  18. Hey guys, maybe someone could help me with the identification of the mei. Thanks alot!
  19. That is the thing I have an issue with. I mean, I only tried to find a cheap blade for iai. But for someone who is seriously collecting swords, the whole development on the market is kind of scary. We have truly entered the realm of next generation forgery.
  20. Could definately be! I must honestly say though, that if these are chinese blades then this is the best chinese blade I ever had in my hand. Balance, the koshirae, the whole construction just doesn't seem chinese.... like... at all. Especially if you consider that ALL the other big chinese companies are missing out on some damn good smiths if they are still selling their rather badly balanced knock offs for the same price. But in the end you never know.
  21. Conerning signing in with my name. I'm sorry I missed that! I'm on my mobile phone at the moment and actually have to admit I have no idea how all the settings here work... I'll try to change that haha
  22. It is a komojo blade that I simply bought as I needed sth for my iai practice. Concerning the "why ruin a gendaito with gimei" The same thing I have asked myself. But I can tell you guys where they come from or at least what I have been TOLD. These swords are genuine nihonto from Japan forged by apprentices and "not so well off" smiths trying to make a buck. The regulations concerning nihonto seem to be bearing down hard on them. So they basically make a genuine blade usually typical length for westerners as they try their best to actually export them and sell them under the table. (although a lot of koryu practitioners I know in Japan also use gimei swords for tameshigiri etc.) Why the signature? Easy... selling point. Not everyone is an expert in judging legitimacy of a mei.
  23. right??? These blades are actually getting better and better...
